Just want to know if anyone actually is using the modern exe (with inreased AA ratings) for PbEM and what your experience is with it. Is it working good and/or is it distorting certain scenarios and their outcome?

Try to find an oponent to test weserübung II with tournament.exe, or play against yourself.
you will find what it gives as results, not only in terms of AA fire ( AA guns and sams works fine) but the modern ATGM give a true impulse to the infantry units facing big armours. Milan 2 and 3, TOW 2A 2B, HOT 2 and 3
Strykers transport MGS, MC etc....

and big armours are not only Leopard 2A4 but 2A5 or 2A6
Str122, enhanced M1 abrams

Yes Modern changes the nature of modern fights, it is why I worked so hard on it for the tournament

For airplanes the combat radius is the real combat raduis not the longuest distance a plane can travel with full of kérozčne.

ETC......

No doubt great work by you and your little helpers. Didn't have a deeper look at the tournament exe so far, but i think i should. Actually i meant the "simple" modern exe with just the anti-air values adjusted.

What do you mean exactly? Those aircraft units have two values, one for movement (from airbase to airbase) and one for combat. What has been the problem, false values in the original database or a bug?

I'm no expert on modern warfare, what is the future of armour on the battlefield?:nervous:

It won't change any pre-existing scenario to the point of switching balance, but it will make things harder if one side has overwhelming air superiority (like in Normandy and same such) and will tone down the effects of tactical air. You may find a few turns of hectic air activity and then turns when everyone is reorganising so it needs a bit of touch to get it right.

As for the ranges, they were a mixed bag, mixing maximum range with combat radius so some aircraft couldn't fly to the base gate while other could go a continent away, my next project was updating the ground attack ratings, but that's on hold for the moment, maybe for TOAW-3.

As for armor, well it's the eternat fight between offense and defense...
