Installation question

I've just installed ACOW for the first time. Some scens open no problem but it seems with the scens that were on the version 1 like Crete, Dien Bien Phu, France 1940, it keeps asking if I want to attempt to update old scenario. What is this and what should I do? Do I need to install the 1.04 patch for it to run properly?

I think you can safely say yes to any questions not requiring your bank account number, but to be sure wait to hear what the clever boys say. ;)

Sounds like you did not overwrite the scenarios that you may have had on your drive, from previous versions. That, or you copied back into your scenario directory, earlier versions, overwriting what you should have just installed in your CoW installation.

What you should do, is to not bother with any previous version scenarios. Virtually all of any of those that were worth playing were converted to CoW versions, and are available for download at the Rugged Defense site.

In light of Telumar's comment, maybe the Okimaw should instead just make sure that he is not copying any of his files from one installed version to the other.

Aside from the 1.04 patch are there any other downloads I should install to get myself up to speed with the other players?

Not that i knew. Some scenarios require to be run from a modified .exe which usually comes with them, i.e. A bridge too far 44, the BOEA tournament files and others.

To follow up...

Use a full version of the 1.04 patch the first time that you patch a fresh installation of CoW. The no-cd version found on this site, does not contain all the updated scenarios, and various other files that were included in the official 1.04 patch.

You can find it here, in a full-version, stripped of the cd requirement.
