Jim, I'm not looking for a game right now, but you may want to give a short summary of the MoE house rules, since they aren't as familiar here as they are at the NWC

Agreed...

I read the thread title and I had no idea what it meant! :hush:

I also am unfamiliar with MoE house rules.

Being a complete newbie to the napoleonic games and only just playing my first game against another napoleonic newbie to learn as we go (although have decided I really am going to have to load up the manual and have a read), I have a question.

Please don't take question wrong way either:

That seems like quite a few house rules; is there a reason that perhaps some are not being incorporated into a patch, or is it generally not a problem for the majority who play?
I ask as seems to be a fairly small community for this series and if half play with house rules and half do not then may make finding opponents even more difficult. Mind you if the majority of players play with the house rules then I suppose not a problem.

Personally I always prefer to see things added in patches (or next game as is quite often the case) to rectify these things rather than using house rules eg: those of you familiar with the ACW series the recent night fatigue option to help penalise night movement thus encouraging players to rest up troops at night.

Sorry I am not trying to cause trouble I realise being new and inexperienced with this engine I may be asking unnecesary questions or not be seeing reasons for all the house rules.

Those house rules come out of another community where the games are played.

I'm not a huge fan of lots of house rules, but that set is fairly popular as a way to avoid some of the more obnoxious ways to abuse the engine and make it play out in ahistorical ways. In short, they're an attempt to compensate for the shortfalls of the one-phase system that's currently in the games, since they allow for a variation of "breakthrough and exploitation" tactics.

that said, I don't use them, I just try to find opponants who are reasonable with their tactics.

Thanks Gary,
I really have to sit down with manual as system is extremely different to ACW and I thought would be fairly similar. I seriously have had no idea what I am doing in first game I am playing.

Is there any plans to address some of those exploitations in a future title or is it just not possible due to the single phase style of game?

Um... :crosseye: We need to move this discussion out of Jim's opponants wanted thread... I'll drop it down into the main area.
