View Full Version : Back in Operation...again

Good Day Gentlemen,

I've been out of operation again, practically since arriving in Ukraine in October. A long story - suffice that I was not very happy when a power surge killed my computer. There were many nights without electricity, largely as half of the power outtages seemed to effect only the stairwell...and my apartment. A little more complicated for not knowing Russian and initially not knowing but one other person who spoke English... So, I was not very happy for a solid 3 months. The next two months was effectively filled with night clubs, "bolshoy" vodka, dancing and um...well...you know.

But then, I got stupid...or smart, I'm not certain yet. If nothing else, I have not gotten married yet - but there hasn't been much further exploration of the night clubs, drinking traditions, dancing, and um...well...you know. Actually, one of these four things I'm not likely to miss, which seems really odd...but Ukraine is a place where everything is exactly opposite what you would expect. Many funny stories...

Yet, I woke up one morning and realized that my life was perfect except for one thing... well, okay, two things... I needed a computer. And... I needed TOAW. And... I hear that Matrix is coming out with a new TOAW?

I recall having just finished a game with Pierre (viri) and was in the middle of at least two other games, one with Raver who I think changed e-mail addresses; a game of Fall Grau, and a reciprocating Campaign for VietNam... Not a good track record on my part, if you had a game going with me and want to continue, let me know if you see me before I find you - please accept my apologies for dropping off.

Good to be back again...

Great to see you again, Mark! Welcome back. I still have saved files of our old DnO game, but no time these days to pursue your fleeing armies. Throw down the gauntlet, and maybe one of the young pups around here will give you a game, or two. Also, Jean-Luc is starting up a tourney soon. Check that out, too!

Hey Jamiam!

Good to be back, good to have a computer and sustained electricity!

Well, you should really count that game as an Overwhelming Victory: 1 - I tried to defend too far forward, 2 - once that was obviously doomed, I changed my mind on where to make the next stand, and 3 - Leningrad, Sevastopol, Stalingrad and Moscow were guaranteed to survive through at least turn...what...12, maybe even 13...um...

The #1 killer of the Soviet mobilization was your air interdiction, followed by the bridge bombing. But, in the course of that game I learned one valuable lesson - how to use CAP.

Really looking forward to the next version by Matrix before jumping into anything too lengthy - except maybe a game of Wintergewitter and tracking down my last opponents to resolve the status of the last games we had going.

Take it easy - and really awesome to hear Matrix is taking over the project. Best to hear it may be available via download! Today is Victory Day celebration in Ukraine - parades and all, a two day holiday...

Best Regards!

Mark

hey Mark nice to see you again :cheeky:
i hope you're having a good time in Ukraine. If you have time for it, may be we can start a little game like 2innorm or another kharkov 1942 :halo: . I'm also fine with wintergewitter, you to chose

Hey Pierre!

If you're up for a Wintergewitter - that would be awesome! Open to either side, any range of options, and even to mirror play. My tourney game was cut short by deployment and ever since, I've been wondering what if...

I'm still at yazidee (at) aol (dot) com -

So - your choice on side & whether you want historical, 1, 2, or 3 TO options.

Have a good one!

Mark
