Hi all,
I reckon that Taktik, despite having no history on the ladder here, is quite a good player so I'm going to AAR the game we're just starting and it will appear in this thread. I intend to post as we play hence the title. We're playing a CMBB scenario called Chekovnya Woods which can be found at The Scenario Depot II. The first installment setting the scene will appear here (possibly with screenies) on Monday.

Neilm85uk - Taktik being in exile (and inactive), doesn't show up on the ladder unless you choose All Reports. Then you'll see he has played 55 games on this ladder, and is ranked erm..11th or 13th overall under the WARS rating.

My guestimate of his abilities was about right then. I should learn a lot from his play (I hope). :surprise:

OK. The moment of my CM demise is at hand and you can read about it here first! Taktik and I have completed the setup and the first movie is sat in his inbox.
All I can do then is outline my plan and await my fate. Attached are two screenies viewnorth and viewsouth:
Viewnorth show the main maneuver elements 1 & 2 (Does it sound like I know what I'm talking about or what???) which consist of two platoons of 43 rifle infantry and three mortars. They will advance (as indicated by the arrow) and wheel Northwards to hit Taktik in the flank as he advances to attack the dunderheaded noob who has set up easily outflankable static defences 3, 4 & 5.
Viewsouth shows the location of the remaining static defences which I think should be able to produce enough firepower to convince Taktik that all my forces are there. (3 x DP LMG, 1 45mm gun, company command and the remaining platoon of rifle infantry).
Pretty simple isn't it. Well I'm a pretty simple guy!

My other plan is working. The one where my outbound mail gets returned as spam. Craig and I are working round the issue now. The first shells of a fascist bombardment landed in the last seconds of turn two just behind group 3 in the viewnorth screeny. I have taken a single casualty in one of the MG teams in the trench there. This suggests that Craig is about to fall into my cunningly laid trap... mwuahahahahahahaha etc.

Just a quick update.
Nothing's happened. We're on turn 5 and there has been no contact with the enemy whatsoever. My left flank forces have advanced until they are level with Taktik's rearmost flag. I will now begin the advance of the inside left platoon hoping to pin down any resistance from the front before hitting in the flank, as my opponent seems to be being extremely cautious!

It's about turn eight and it would be fair to say things are not going brilliantly. The force advancing on my far left have encountered acres of German wire and are withdrawing to support the 'inside left' force who have been ambushed by German pioneres. 1 squad has been all but wiped out and another is broken. There's some hardcore flamethrower action which I'll put up later that will warm the cockles of Dans heart. I've called in an arty strike on the position but it's four minutes away and will probably be cancelled before it arrives. NB. Always keep in mind that mortars have a minimum range!!! :cry:

There have been further PBEM problems that have slowed the game to a crawl. Happily I have a new address that appears to be working perfectly so this weekend the promised 'flamethrower' moment and other disasters will appear below.

Therre will be stuff flying out tonight. The remainder of this is written. I've just got to get some screenies sorted and it posted. Early next week. Things have got very hectic in RL. Possible new job, demanding missus :blab: etc. Have to be a :halo: for a while!
