View Full Version : Motorised transport units
What's the most effective deployment for motorised transport units, at supply points or traveling with their assigned formation if they have one. as in an army or expeditioary force asset as opposed to a divisional one?
What do you mean with motorised transport units? The ones with the truck icon or with the supply icon?
Btw, no worries, you will receive your turn soon.
Yeah the truck icon units are what I meant. And I wasn't worried about the turn, you're a very busy and important man.

Well, actually the truck units serve ah..no purpose except the truck sharing ability to boost supply provided they really have trucks in their equipment list, lot of trucks... Hide them deep within your forests, dig them in or whatever.
What's the equipment of the unit, if you mean a specific unit?
As far as i know they are not able to really transport a unit like the transport ships.
Yeah the units I'm talking about have 100 trucks, one each for UK, US, FR in the Jihad scenario. The FR and UK are assigned their respective forces overall but the US is assigned to the 24th armored

if it's a transport unit, you can benefit from the supply sharing through transport assets which haven't moved the turn before. That increases your overall supply stockpile your units get every turn provided you don't move the trucks.
Unfortunately toaw doesn't model the need for those units to be near the front line. Hide those and get the benefits from the trucks is the best option for me

Thanks guys thats what I was wondering, if having them adjacent to or close by the assigned formations was important to my supply levels. From now on they'll be stationary and far from the action

it's only usefull to place it near the front when those units also act as supply units and have a supply radius. you can check this in the unit report

And I think that only those iconed as supply units can have a supply radius, not the 'truck' symbols, which is a pity.

Yes, a real pity!!
May be it could enhance the transport asset ?
Never get the real importance of this icon

Some kind of target for bored bomber pilots..? ... a slot filler?....... the big toaw enigma... ?....one could give this icon to a replacement pool boost to clearly distinguish it from combat units (a "unit" to be disbanded)... my two cents.
