These are East German Units so the commanders for that nation get 1st dibs. Post here if interested. More details to follow soon.
Detailed OOB's can be found in the appropriate thread.

JadYou're it so far, but I just posted earlier today. I believe Stonefire and MrClark are the primary candidates.

Stonefire and Mr. Clark on on the hot seat. If neither reports here by the end of the day Saturday, the commands will be open for rent (with Jad getting 1st choice). :smoke:
Remember, avoid contact and try to keep as many units alive as possible. Recon info is much more valuable than a couple of killed APCs or even tanks.

JAD - Just an FYI - Aircraft (Rotary wing only) and artillery are available for these 3 battles. If you would ike to assign some of these assets to either commander(s) of the battles please post them here.

The temporary commander positions (for these 2 battles) are now open to volunteers!
I don't want to mess with EG but if no one else comes forward I'll do it just to get things moving.

I believe all the arty units can reach these front line units to support them and any rotary winged craft you want assigned can reach the battle by turn 2-3.
Please allocate/assign what you want for each battle, if any.
Ok, three days is enough. I'll take the other recon command with Jad so we can get this thing moving.

These units are available for the Recon Battles, they just need to be assigned if you want (any, all or some).
Remember while this may seem like a lot thye ARE subject to counterbattery fire while in the off board mode in WinSPMBT and any casualties inflicted in this way are permanent;

Jad, one Bn of Gvozdikas per recon Co? DD, is it possible to order them to use fire-and-relocate tactics? MBT does not understand that but I was just wondering, I am not eager to lose arty this early in the battle.
Jad, how about rotary? My vote is no, too early to commit them or we must retreat them off the map if we encounter AA which in case of NATO is deadly accurate. I'd like to know what you have in mind before we start fighting.
Big, small, medium, whatever, Jad picks first and I'll take the rest.

MBT does not understand that but I was just wondering, I am not eager to lose arty this early in the battle.I'm not exactly sure how WinSPMBT handles the offboard counterbattery. They may be safe as long as they don't fire missions themslelves but that is only a guess.
I was more thinking of ignoring casualties even if there is some after counterbattery if we don't use them for the amount of time that you say the relocating takes. That would mean that the battery is moving away from the place that cb is hitting thus, no casualties. But the penalty is inactivity of guns for several turns. I understand if you don't approve that, it is impossible to monitor.

Just a FYI. I have brought czerpak in to fill the gap for the time being. He shoulld be reportng in soon. Please decide which battle you would like him to take and I'll help get him up to speed on all the little details.
wow, what a company around here :)
I am going thru all the info slowly, but please someone tell me what I MUST know to be ready to go.
BTW I hope it wont be just for "the time being".
Awesome work done here, DD. I am impressed.

Don't be afraid to ask, you know my number :)
At the moment DD's link is the most urgent but I advise that you read all the threads, there is bits of info which helps you understand where we are and where we want to go. Do you have Cocat? Even if you don't know how to use it, it helps you to see the field with units. I used Cocat when I wrote orders for 7th MRR but didn't make a uni-file, it already took me several hours just to get the text done.

Anyone heard from Jad lately? :nervous:
How about you each get one of the following since the recon units are also East German? These would be added as off-board Artillery.
......3 Bn/9th Art Rgt/9th DAG/9th Tk Div
.........x12 M1976 (15,300m) = 7 hexes
......4 Bn/9th Art Rgt/9th DAG/9th Tk Div

Nothing from Jad for awhile. I'm ready to start and the arty you suggested is fine.

COCAT would be best if you can get it running. Some have problems with it. Once you get it running I can send you the WP Master file to load into it and see where everyone is.

Mike,
I think I have successfully installed COCAT, Now I need some instruction on how to use it.
It's fairly easy, find yourself some .uni-files and load them. You will figure it out after that. Can't remember how the map was imported but DD will help you with that. Btw, welcome to our ranks, it's good that someone has taken the overall command. It was looking for awhile that we were losing the whole campaign because most people wandered away after a quite spell.

Thanks Vesku,
I think I've got the map already, But I don't know where to find .uni files.
Hey, are you in the Steel Panthers world demolition tournament? I'm the only one in it not from Finland.
Check the threads with attachments, unis are somewhere here to be found.
Don't know about that tournament, I'm only active at Blitz and this combat campaign.
I'm in a bit of a hurry but I'll try to be active now that we have started.

What version is showing in you COCAT Help menu (should be version 2.2.cek).
Go in to create a new Blue force unit, click support and tell what the last 4 pieces of equipment listed are at the bottom of the menu scroll, should be;
Mine
Wire
Trench
AT BarrierDid you get the single zip DL or all the little ones and patch it? Can you see the WinSPMBT Master Operational Map (with yellow hexes)?

If you have the maps, then you only need the small 2MB DL. Make sure you UNZIP with "Use Folder Names" checked. If you have the maps, just copy them to the new COCAT Folder you created into the map subdirectory. The final folder structure should look like this.

How do I draw waypoints in COCAT? How far can I move in one turn?/How long are turns?

Load the uni file. Click on a unit, then on the left click the "Write Orders" button. Click the appropriate buttons near the top (include stat end time for the 1 hour turn period). Then click Add Waypoint. Click each stage of the move and when you are done "Right Click" to end the waypoint process. Make sure you save your work.
