Well sorry I didn't give any updates on this battle as it progressed but I operational security concerns prevented me from doing so. The scenario is now over so here is my report.
Rebel forces were reported in the vicinity of Sharpsburg so XI Corps was dispatched to the area to check it out. Given that I only had one Corps, and a poor one at that, I opted to find good ground and hunker down. Having only two cavalry units I really couldn't do much scouting therefore the location of Rebel forces was largely unknown throughout most of the battle. I did advance a small scouting party towards Sharpsburg but was met by larger forces then I could muster and would reach the VP hex there before I could so I backed off my original advance. The other VP hex was a long march away so that's when I decided to hunker down. I never did see any Rebel forces except for a few marching across the center of the map that never made a threatening gesture. I offered the Rebel commander a draw with seven turns remaining as I think he was as fearful as I was about meeting superior forces and the offer was accepted after 17 turns of maneuvering. We are moving on to the next battle which I'll report on in Gettysburg Campaign III.
