View Full Version : Large maps for 1776 and 1812
Just wondering if there are any large Campaign map scenarios for 1776 or 1812 (like the Eckmuhl full map campaign,) is it possible??
Brandywine is probably the biggest for 1776, that I'm aware of...
In the 1812 Expansion package scenario 301 is a big one, on a map I made totaling 200 x 130 hexes.
Then of course for FIW there's quite a few big map ones. :)
I think Glyn was looking for a CAMPAIGN that used one of the maps - a one map campaign much like what you and Charlie offered in Waterloo as well as my EC.
The answer is .... No.
But that doesnt mean that some enterprising individual cant put one together!
The Quebec map is the largest map in the series I believe. I was astounded to find that its dimensions are 629 x 629. While its not huge on detail it would make for a fun map to use for a campaign.
Boatloads of British coming down the river while another force crosses by land.
In fact you COULD fight for the concept that the 1758 campaign branch about Quebec IS a one map campaign all in itself.
Brandywine is probably one of the better maps to use for a one-scenario/large-map campaign. Lots of wooded hills and covered approach routes. Hmm, ..... :D
I have one 6 miles by 15 miles (252x630) I made a few years back.
Haven't ever really put a scenario on it.
Rich H used part of it for a tournament game a while back.
90 square miles should be a large enough area to hide within. :D
Since it is a hypothetical map, should I place upon it historical armies, or historically based armies, or armies of some fictious countries for a 'what-if' battle? hmmmm.....
Something to think upon.
Thanks Gents for the replies..:)
yup, I will wondering if there were any large map campaigns similar to the Waterloo or Eckmuhl.. Based maybe on the New Orleans or Carolinas campaigns.

Maybe the Havana Campaign of 1762 or West Indies 1782 with Spanish forces in place of the French, semi - historical ???:whist: ;)

I think the carolinas tended to be really spread out between small engagements.
My pick for a big map campaign would be second Trenton/Princeton. 2 distinct actions fought over a 9 mile x 15 area on Jan 2 & 3, 1777. Plenty of skirmishing in between. It would combine the Princeton and Trenton maps and fill in some of the gaps between them.
