Infinite, he never made it :p
Nope :cheeky: Any other guesses?
I'm confused. In May of 1862, MacClellan wa on the Peninsula, while Stonewall Jackson was in the Shenandoah Valley. Are you perhaps refering to a subordinate who dawdled under orders from Little Mac? MacClellan's direct command was in no position to advance against the Shenandoah Valley.
Hummm...I agree...and for the record, I am simply taking Q&A's from a book I have and posting them here, not thougholy researching them prior to. :cheeky: This one should have struck me as odd though...I can only surmise that it's referring to subordinates of McClellan's. I found this on one site:
" McClellan moved his troops into the Shenandoah Valley (http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USACWshenandoah.htm) and along with John C. Fremont (http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAfremont.htm), Irvin McDowell (http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USACWmcdowell.htm) and Nathaniel Banks (http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USACWbanks.htm) surrounded Jackson and his 17,000 man army."
Anyway, the answer the book is posing is 8 days (to move the 70 miles). :bandit:
You did far better than me Rahamy I couldn't find any specific links to point people in the direction of for this one; although I came across one very good site and some others of interest in my search on other topics.
Where was the 70 miles from? . . . and to?
I know the three generals you mention moved slow, and thus failed to spring the trap, but I'm curious which one the book refers to.
Sorry, it doesn't give that level of detail...its called the "Civil War trivia and fact book" and for the most part is broken down into short questions and answers.

Well, I know that Fremont was notoriously slow and indecisive, so I pick him.:halo:

I retract the previous post. My internet is so slow that by the time I got to the end of this thread I forgot that the question was asking for a length of time. Living out in the country has its advantages:) – fast internet service isn’t one of them.:(
