Does anyone know how to use a pre-produced map to design an operation? I've got lots of fantastic ops-sized maps from various designers, but using the scenario designer in cmbo or cmak seems to require you to desing a map from scratch when you design an operation... am i being really stupid or what??

Hmmm, good question I think you are right though.

Pyewacket's Map Converter Tool program will copy a map and export it to an Operation.
For PC only.
Worth having, search BFC forum for the link.
Or I can do it for you.
