I assume the H1 2006 means first half of 2006?

Hmmm, those graphics look decent to me. Bear in mind that Doom III and Half Life 2 only have to simulate very small levels, thus they can sport lots of detail within a very small area. It isn't possible to have maps the size of Operation Flashpoint with graphics like Doom III--at least, I haven't seen anything like that yet. Far Cry would be the closest thing I can think of.

One other thing. Most games with really cutting edge graphics don't have 50-200 units running around the map simultaneously, working in groups.

I sort of expected Armed Assault to equal "VBS1 Lite"

VBS1 is still the jewel in BIS's crown IMO.
