There was a discussion concerning aspects of mapping in SP:

So I thought to give it a try.
Question:
How many hexes (n) are needed to represent a vertical distance (H) as shown in the attachement.
Answer:
n=(H-14.445)/43.302, (H in meters) plus some necessary rounding up or down as n must be an integer.
So for a 1000m vertical map edge (H =1000) you need 23 (non grey) hexes (n = 22.8)
