Does anybody else love them as much as I do?

BTW, can somebody offer advanced tips on best tactical and strategic use of airmobile forces?

Most of my experaince with Airmobile troops has come in playtesting Curt Chamber's master opus 'Campaign for South Vietnam'.
I've found they are most effective if you use a recon unit to first find and fix the enemy and then you can air lift your infantry in and surround and destroy the enemy. Of course that assuming you can surround the enemy. In a more conventional scenario they are very usefull as a firebrigade or flanking element. They are also good for behind the lines actions like destroying airfields, bridge's, etc becuase they can be airlifted back out before the heat arrives.

PS: All allied players in the OPFOR tournament should brush up on their airmobile skills.......

How can I destroy an airfileld? I can occupy it, but I never heard about destroying them.

I wonder if Norms patch would allow airfields to be destroyed. It would be a nice feature anyway.

Ack! I don't know the first thing about using airmobile units. Anybody know any good, small scenarios where I can cut my teeth in a hotseat game?

I've always been a little unclear on what happens when you occupy an airfield. If your ground unit overruns an airfield "defended" with only planes, the planes just seem to move to another airfield. I think maybe sometimes they reorg. Am I missing something else here?

Seems that they should evaporate or at least receive some damage.

Yes, maybe infantry can be designed to plant trees to make forest, dig canals, build railroads, ect. Tank units could double up as caravans. Also a cheesy screen for diplomacy should be added.

Those three could get you started.

If you are playing a modern scenario with SSMs you can use them with very good effect when conducting airfield attacks. Very effective.....Save your own airforce and make follow up attacks with airplanes after you have attacked with the SSMs. Nothing to do with airmobility but if Tim has included them this is one of the best ways to use them.
