Hi all!

I'm still somewhat of a rookie, and while participating at Rooster's Recruit Tournament some things have crept up that I'm not sure off. Can anybody help?

1. What units cannot claim control over a victory flag?
2. How close (in yards) does a unit have to be to claim control over a victory flag?
3. How effective is small-arms area fire? How big is that area hit by area fire?
4. Why do my sharpshooters ignore targets that I try to assign them? I can choose a target during orders phase, but the sharpshooter won't fire. Is choosing targets something done by the AI (simulating the individualistic character of sharpshooters)?
5. What use is the rifle grenade most US infantry squads are equipped with?
6. Why don't my Allied TDs ever use their titanium ammo? Although carrying a half dozen TI rounds they seem to prefer hitting Panthers frontally 2 or 3 times with AP, and naturally are soon punished for that idiocy...

I'd be grateful if anybody could enlighten me on these points.

1) Unarmed (Spotter, Jeeps, Trucks) and routed/broken units

2) 80meters (~87,5 yards), infantry better then vehicels, and LOS is important, too

3)?

5) Mostly AT. To use them, your unit must be a)close enough, maximum 30 meter (32,8 yards), b) in good moral conditions c) NOT be ordered to target the unit. Like Panzerfausts, the riflegrenades are used automatic with the TacAIs grace.

4) & 6) Fall under the category 'unanswered myths and riddles of the TacAI/game engine'. Learn to live with it. Maybe it helps you to see it this way : stupid actions are realistic. No real human being is able to do always the right thing at the right time.

1. But I've read about a "gamey" tactic, the infamous "Kuebelwagen rush". I understood that you unleash a horde of hidden Kuebelwagen in the final game turn to deny the enemy his captured victory flags? And how about the MG-armed jeep?
3. I mean, what's the actual use of small-arms area fire? The manual says it supresses enemy units or it can be used to target suspected positions. But does it really do that? Or is it a waste of ammo? Do I have to target the precise spot I think the enemy is positioned or is there a spray effect, possibly affecting adjacent units as well?
5. You say NOT to target an enemy vehicle for the rifle grenade to be used. Does this apply for ALL close assaults? Because I have never seen a successful close assault performed...
NEW 7. I can't get the hang of assault boats. If I don't beach them the loaded troops won't step off, but if I do beach them the boats stay immobilised for the rest of the game. Not a solution if there's still troops waiting to be ferried on the other side. Am I doing something wrong?
4.&6. Okay, I can live with that. I was just wondering, more so since I have NEVER seen an allied unit actually use its TI ammo.

1) JeepMG can hold a VL, Kuebelwagen not.

3) I meant with '?' that I don't know. :) Area fire can both supress and damage enemy units, but I don't know how effecient.

5) Yes, this is correct for all close assault weapons. If you order infantry to target a vehicel, then they will only use their small arms.
