After spending some months and knocking out an OOB editor for SPWAW that provided for the import and export of CSV files for the weapon, unit and Formation tables, I am wondering if there is enough interest in me spending time to do something similar for SPWW2/WinSPMBT?

First I have no intension to compete with the current OOB editor as such; it works fine for simple OOB editing. The main thrust is for bulk OOB editing work, stuff teh current editor does not do.

Anyway just a minor thought for you to contemplate.

I know I could see a use for it myself. Not sure about a larger audience though. There is something else I would like to see happen BUT not sure it could be done.

Firstly in the current OOB editor you can make changes to any single weapon, unit, and formation. Naturally that change carries through that specific OOB.
The editor also allows for such abilities to copy etc so you can copy one whatever and paste it into a slot and modify it.

This is all straight single operations and you have a limited view of the total area you are editing be it weapon, unit or formation.

One aspect the editor does allow is to export the OOB as a set of CSV files. Here you can view the various parts as a set of spreadsheets.

What I am classing as bulk editing is the ability to export a specific OOB to a set of CSV files and then you can make your changes in the spreadsheets. This gives you full view of all items from a single OOB. Hence you can make lots of changes to the whole single OOB, weapons, units, and formations and then in a single load put that back into a useable OOB file.
This approach allows an OOB designer to modify a complete OOB set of files them import them back. This import aspect is not available in the current editor.

Hope that helps.

I suspect itsa thing not for teh community at large.

What is the other thing?
You are right some things can not be done or if possible may not be worth the total effort. Again depends on what.

I for one would be interested in using a bulk editor like that. I think the ability to export to a .csv in order to see / print the whole OOB would be helpful in itself, even if just to see the big picture. :)

My first post on this site, been playing about 2 months. Am learning and looking forward to making scenarios, maps, editing stuff, etc.

In the OOB Editor that comes with the game you can at present export a CSV set of files for weapons, units and formations for a specific OOB.

So you can at present get a set of CSV files and print it off.

The game OOB editor though will not allow you to read in a set of CSV files into an OOB. That is the area I am looking at.

Absolutely, it would seem this would speed up editing considerably.
