Where are the experts around here on current (2005-2007) Dutch Security Forces?

Not the kind to be dispatched outside of Holland BUT those who would be called into action due to internal strife. :hmmm:

Something along the lines of counter-terrorism forces . . . say a company sized force with the capacity to bring along some heavier firepower in light combat vehicles.

Not sure if the Netherlands has the strict internal/external millitary distinction that we are so used to here in the US. Their external forces may be the same ones they'd use internally, if the matter exceeded capabilities of domestic police.

Anyhow, heres some info:

Special Forces: Royal Dutch Marines
One bright May morning in 1977, the children of Bovendsmilde were settling down for their lessons when four South Moluccan terrorists stormed the school. Armed with submachine guns and grenades, they took 105 children and 4 teachers hostage. A short time later, just outside of town, nine heavily armed South Moluccans boarded a commuter train, taking 60 hostages. After 14 long hours, the terrorists begin issuing their political demands. As negotiations dragged on for an interminable two weeks, the Royal Dutch Marines were taking action. See how the elite counter-terrorism and commando squad used thermal imaging and listening devices to formulate a rescue plan. This double siege is the most famous mission of the Royal Dutch Marines and is still studied by counter-terrorism units worldwide as a textbook example of how to handle a hostage crisis.

Interesting article (probably won't help you much, but ...) on domestic CT intel in Netherlands, written by the Director of their CT intel group, the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD):

Actually that helps a lot! I'm looking at possibly creating a small campaign in the Netherlands using an SOF internal security force as the player's unit.

OK, I changed the thread title so as not to scare off any would be contributors. :whist:

While I originally planned to use a Dutch SOF Company I came across this while looking through the links Pepper provided;

Bijzondere Bijstands Eenhid (BBE (http://www.specwarnet.com/europe/bbe.htm)): The BBE (Special Intervention Force) is Holland's national Counter-Terrorism unit. Answering to the Dutch Ministry of the Interior, this unit of approximately 100 operators is considered to be one of the best CT units in the world. Tasked with conducting CT, DA and various other covert missions. Unit members are trained in combat medicine, demolition's, EOD, communications, and CQB.With 100 members, that would equal about 10-12 squads or about 1 company size force (more or less).

hi there if i am not mistaken the duthforces see action to in korea maybe should we make a campaign of scenario file?Good idea. At some point I'd like to do some stuff with WinSPWW2 that focuses on the so called "minors". This would include the Poles, Dutch, Belgians, Romanians, Hungarians, etc. I would also like to do some PTO stuff as well as follow some hypothetical story lines. :devious:
