What are good rules of thumb once a challenge is made? Any big do’s and don’t? Do these rules apply to all SP version.
Hi,
Fine details may unbalance completely a pbem game...
Just try to define as many of these "fine" details as possible.
For instance:
1. The quantity of specialized units (AT, snipers)
2. The quantity of Air assets, airdrop attacks etc...
3. The quantity and quality of artillery
4. The existence and quantity of minefields
etc...etc...
cheers,
Pyros

Thanks for posting but are those not just personnel preference? What I am referring to is the points for either side, size of map, visibility compared to what side has a vision advantage. Stuff like that.

Hi,
The essence of this very nice tactical game are variables like the following:
1. Points availability
2. Size of map
3. Visibility
4. Turn Length
5. Diaspora of VP Objectives
6. Type of engagement
In order to determine them, you must know the OOB that you will use and you must determine the overall tactics and high strategy that you will use.
Each of the above criteria gives you some potential choices for the composition of your force, the overall tactics and high strategy.
All I can tell you is to try and put some limitations to the allowance of the "specialized" units and then study carefully your OoB.
Try to figure out what forces you need to use, in order to execute your tactical plan on any specific game.
cheers,
Pyros
