Been keeping an eye on this game but can't help and notice the majority of the pictures that I've seen which show the weapons, the ejection ports are on the left-side of the weapons. This is wrong! I've seen the Ak-74M, the Val and Z-M's M4 with the ejection ports all on the wrong side. Everybody knows that the majority of assault rifles have the ejection ports on the right side. How could they miss this? http://www.war-forums.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif I hope they fix this major problem. I don't know if I'll buy the game because of this. Here's a pic...see what I mean.

I think its the fact that they want to show the action of the bolt and or the spent cartrages ejecting.

Redstar's point sounds quite logical...

Besides when is the game actually sceduled to come out? I remember playing a multiplayer demo at a convention in summer last year...

First...sorry for the size of the pic.

EB Games is showing a release date of 1 Feb 06.

If they are that hell-bent on showing the action and shell casings, they could've done it differently IMO. Which FPS's out there are realistic anyways, not too many (America's Army comes to mind). The graphics do look great...guess I might buy it. http://www.war-forums.com/forums/images/smilies/cheeky.gif Would like to see more beta screens first.

You wouldn't buy a game just because the shell casings came out on the wrong side?

1) The guns have reversed components because it's Chernobyl. They mutated.

2) This game sounds incredible when I read an interview type thing in a recent PCGamer about it.

About 60% of the huge game area is modelled accurately, the other 40% is either areas they couldn't get to, or areas they changed for the sake of playability.

The game is super non linear.

The AI has been the biggest delay in the game, and they've finally got it to the point where each NPC is basically autonomous. It recognizes its surroundings on its own, they can put an NPC in a random spot on the map and it will act appropriately, no scripted actions to make it seem like it has AI *cough* HL2 *cough*.

One of the top guys at Chernobyl (of some sort) fell in love with the project when they showed him the careful modelling of his office in the game.

Back about a year ago, I thought it had the best enviroment graphics of any game I had seen...the setting is amazing - but I haven't seen many of the recent screenshots. I was wondering what had delayed it so long, but I guess if they will make the AI spectacular it is worth it.

Unfortunately, I probably won't play it though....me = wimpy when it comes to monsters.

It crossed my mind but the graphics look great. It does have that Half Life 2 look to it. Guess I'll have to get used to it. Hopefully they have an option on which way you see your weapon.

It does almost look like a hl2 mod (graphics wise, gameplay wise i think it sounds like it will blow hl2 away)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. received Gamespy's 4th Annual "When It's Done" Award (http://goty.gamespy.com/2005/pc/index27.html).

Every year, we give out this award to a game that's pretty much gone off the grid -- we'd love to play it, but when that'll happen is anyone's guess. Last year's winner, Quake 4, was finally released this year, and so the mantle passes to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadows of Chernobyl, being developed (at least in theory), by Eastern European developer GSC Game World.

Export version ;) But the sight looks domestic...

I have always been a sucker for apocalyptical settings. How much effort do you think is put in to the RPG element of the game? I guess that is the only thing that in my view makes this game any different from everything else out there.

There's no stat system or anything like that like an RPG. However apparently you will have to eat and sleep in the Zone. Also it's basically completely open ended. You can go about and do whatever you want essentially and however you want. Good guy, bad guy, bad guy that seems like a good guy, etc. If it lives up to half of the promises it makes, it will easily be game of the year for next year. :D

They actually mention Fallout as one of their inspirations for the gameplay. :)

Yes, that and Jagged Alliance has had a wonderfull impact in the east. Always great to see that good ideas are valued.

I was reading up on this at the stalker website, and it looks like the game is going to have some really cool effects (traps) in the zone like gravity wells, rusty hair, killer fog, etc.....

I'm getting really excited for this one

No idea, but the last game I had with a recent version of Starforce had absolutely no issues, so I'm not worried about it.
