Hi Combat Mission types. I'm an ASL'er (newbie), and thought I'd download the CMBB demo and see what it was like on my 'puter.
I run it, and the screen goes BLACK.
Basic systems specs are:
- AMD 1.4Ghz with 1.5GB of RAM on an MSI 6330 MB with recent BIOS
- Windows 2000 SP4 with all patches
- NVidia GeForce 2 GTS/Pro with latest video drivers
- 40G disk space remaining
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the Software, to no avail. Same thing happens with an older demo of Combat Mission as well.
Any suggestions or thoughts on this?
I vaguely recall installing it in the past, and seeing the game, but I later uninstalled it. Am wondering if I made a settings change that caused the blackout, and that an uninstall didn't remove 'everything'.

When you uninstalled it did you remove the folder? If not uninstall it again and make sure you delete the folder. When you re-install it hopefully it works.

Toasted the whole directory, and reinstalled:
cmbb_demo.exe
I even waited the 20+ seconds for screen checking, to no avail.

Go into the dir and find the Pref file and delete it. Then try to run it again. If it doesnt work you may want to delete the demo you got and go to the battlefront website and re-download the demo. Hope this helps. :D
If you still have problems go to http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=8
Sounds to me more like a graphic card driver issue

Well, I completely re-installed my O/S (as in format the HD), and went from W2K to WXP Pro, and still have a 'black' screen.
Following the linkies above, it looks like I need to turn off full screen anti-aliasing on my GeForce2 card.
Will try that tonight.
EDIT: Nope. Neither that, nor minimizing/maximizing the game will get this game running. Looks like a non-starter to me. I find it interesting that so many other companies are developing successful games for this card, but these guys are having problems at the expense of faulty drivers from the card manufacturer.
you might also want to try minimizing the screen and bringing it back up again.
check www.battlefront.com they have a troubleshooting section wihich deals with the demo, game and video card issues.

Yep, I've set up an account with them, and am going through a process.
Tonight I'm going the following suggestion sent to me from Battlefront:
"The quick answer is that your problem is almost certainly the evil Microsoft update #328310. Delete it, burn it, exorcise the infamous thing and your problem will be solved."
