I think both should count against the ladder... All three icluding CMAK once it is up and running.. I know there is people playing both and I think ladder is designed well to handle all the way it is...
IMO both should count on the same ladder. CMAK promises to be different still and then we'd need three seperate ladders? After all it's ALL CM :D
I'm not sure what the argument would be in favor of maintaining different ladders anyway, other than BB is more realistic. Greater realism also means greater difficulty in maintaining a proper play balance. So while CMBO may be inherently intensely gamey in nature, it also has better balance play wise.
Is the implication that those who only play BB are better gamers and therefore should be in a league of their own?
IMHO :surprise:

I know at least one other ladder club has separate bb/bo ladders,so it doesn't seem to be an insurmountable problem, but then I know next to nothing about PC tech stuff!
The only compromise solution I can think of in a combined ladder is that bb-only and bo-only players must agree to an immediate rematch using the other game.
How about it Waleed,we play cmbb now,and cmbo straight afterward?
(I gave my bo away 2 years ago and will have to nip down the shop to buy it again and re-learn it, gulp)

Again, the question is why bother with separate ladders?
I see no need for seperate ladders. In fact if we go to more than one ladder, we will need three very soon--one each for CMBO, CMBB and CMAK. The biggest impact that seperate ladders will have is to split the CM community. I do not view that as desirable.

Its ALREADY split! Waleed only plays bo,and I only play bb,so the ladders going to look a bit odd when me and Waleed are number one and number two Top Guns respectively without ever having played each other
Hey,how about a new club rule that stipulates a player may only play 2 consecutive same-games,but the 3rd must be another other title?
i.e:- a bb nut like me could play bb/bb/BO, /bb/bb/AK, then cycle back to bb/bb/BO and so on, get it?
Maybe you two can agree to play each other in CMAK, as soon as it comes out.

Not to quibble poor old spike, but last time I looked you (and Waleed) have got a long way to go before you're number one and two on the ladder. There happen to be a couple of tough cookies by the name of Scipio and DeathDealer sitting in those positions now. :D
If the splitting of ladders is that important to you, there are a few other sites that do that now. Band of Brothers is one. They have a remarkably complex rating system in that anytime a game is completed virtually everyone has their rating adjusted.
Unlike various world boxing federations though, this club doesn't require that top dogs slug it out to prove who's toughest.
The other solution - if you're really hungry for Waleed's scalp - is to play him at BO. How tough could that be for a BB player :devious:
Just out of curiosity, how does the ladder work? Is it just on the result of the game, or do you get more points if you kick the butt of a guy above you than if you beat a person below you? If not, then wouldn't it be possible to get all the way to the top by kicking the butt of the same person say 50 times?
Just out of curiousity, you understand.
Points are awarded based on the purchase point level and the level of victory achieved in the game. Even if you end up totally defeated you get a couple of victory points. No bonus points are awarded for beating someone above you. See the section of the site dealing with ribbons and such for a complete description. The ladder is working quite well as it is and should have no problem accommodating the arrival of CMAK. The only suggestion might be the longevity of games counting towards the ladder. Some of the results are almost 3 years old already.

I'm new on the block and only play CMBB. I will try CMAK, but will probably stick with CMBB.
I think in the spirit of longevity and keeping the CM community together, there should not be seperate ladders.
I have seen this sort of thing happen in the past in the Close Combat ladder. People on it played different mods(EF,WF, etc,.).
Like Gonzo said, it's about the points, so it shouldn't matter if there are different games on it.
