Comrades,

Now we have a full team preparing for the fight, let us say a few words about ourselves in order to get to know each other a bit better. We have done the same in Red Snow campaign it proved to be a good idea.

I'll be the first to do that.

I'm 31 years old and I work as a software developement team leader.

I started wargaming 12 years ago, my classics are Civilization, Panzer General, Then Age of empires series and Cossacks. I played with SPII when it came out and a little of SPIII as well. Nowdays I play SPMBT and a little of Combat Mission, TOAW, Civilization.

I stated playing SPWaW 3 years ago, and SPMBT 2 years ago. I am a member of the Blitz wargaming club, you can find my member page here:

I have not too many PBEM games registered, but those which are, most of them were tough fights against pros.

I took part in several combat campigns:
Crimean Campaign(SPWaW): as a Soviet partisan commander.
Island Civil War campaign(SPMBT): I had to drop out early but provided Pannonicus with some help at the initial planning.
Red Snow(SPWaW H2H): German force commander. A succesful campaign for us.

Hi all!

I'm 33 year-old system manager from Pori, Finland +2 hours GMT.

I've played wargames since I was a small child (now I'm just a child). I started with boardgames like the classic Squad leader which I loved. Been playing SP since the introduction of SP1 which I did play a lot, SP2 was left for a smaller interest but SP3 blew my mind. WaW and H2H are my bread and butter these days so don't let my 250+ PBEM games fool you, only under 20 are with MBT. I'm slowly figuring out how the engine works in MBT but I've got a lot to learn.

I was a commander of a Russian tank company in Red Snow but dropped out when my fellow commander decided to send my tanks to death. It was otherwise a very entertaining campaign.

I wish us all good luck for our path to glory.

Allright,

I am 20 and currently studying Physics at the lovely university of Potsdam, GDR.

I started PC gaming with Civilisation, in the early 90s, as my father bought it and never ever touched a PC for more gaming then Solitaire.
I stayed longtime with Civ, also because we nover owned a computer letting mew play anything else until 1997, then I started playing SSIs panzer General series, and it became one of my favourites until I discovered Steel Panthers as a Demo on some mag I can't remember anymore, that I found at my uncles house.
If I remember correctly the game was already quite old at that time, so I never found it in the stores, and after a couple of month my interest dropped, and I turned to TOAW.
That all suddenly changed again when I discovered SPMBT, in 2001 I think. It quickly became my favourite game and I also gave a little input about the east German OOB.
I was, and more or less am, still a mainly Single player gamer, as I more or less lack the time and the internet connection for anything more serious, thus I have only few PBEM battles in SP and TOAW.
Apart from tun based games I also like to play some action games from time to time, and when I'll get my flatrate and broadband sometime next year you might also find me playing Battlefield 2 (again).

Hi,

I am 26, and a lawyer, living in Budapest. I currently work for International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). So if you have any question  on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), just ask me.

I play SP since SP2, and nowadays I only play WinSPMBT. I played a few PBEM games, mostly against real-word Hung. officers. (I got many of them addicted.)

I helped to develop the Hungarian OOB (it is still far from perfect, designers do not always take into account what I advise :blab: ), and I was overall commander in Island Civil War, on UN side.

Is it enough for now?

Well, so far I am the oldest here at 55. I am a Captain for American Airlines and I fly within the USA, Canada and Mexico.

I started gaming in my teens with the Avalon Hill board games which I still have in storage :). Then CivI,II,III (I love just about any Sid Meier game). AOE followed then I found SPWAW and SPMBT. I've recently started playing Combat Mission and wish we could get a campaign using that engine.

I had a small role in the Crimean Campaign and Red Snow and was in Island Campaign but had to drop out.

Looking forward to working with all of you.

Hello,

I'm 22 year-old economics student at business university in Turku, southwest Finland. My major is economics but I also study finance, international business and business law.

My favourite interests also include history, especially military history, which corresponds with the wargaming - this probably applies to all of us here I believe =) One hobby also is family research, which I've done for about 4 years now, and I've traced most of my ancestors up to middle of the 18th century.

My first gaming experiences also include Civilization, and of course the sequels and Colonization. Also a long time favourite is the Close Combat series, I've played a lot of parts 2 and 3. Recently Hearts of Iron and especially the HOI2 have had plenty of operating hours.

I played SP a bit when it was published, no experience of SP2, but not until SP3 I discovered how great a game series it was. There were a couple of years break, but about 2 years ago I found SPWaw and I've played it quite much since then. SPMBT I've never seen, and WinSPMBT I downloaded just a few days before finding these forums =) Getting more and more familiar with it all the time.
I have played only few PBEM games, so I would really need experience against alive opponents, but don't have time for everything.

I'm a teacher, 28, work and live in a small town in the north of Sweden.

Got SP1 back in 1997 and been more or less hooked since. Steel Panthers is pretty much the only thing I play - been into scenario/campaign desing for some time too, mostly SPWW2 and some SPMBT. Made some stuff for SPWAW as well, but that was a long time ago and since a couple of years I've more or less abandoned SPWAW.

New to the combat campaign system, but already much impressed.

I am 43 years young. I was a teacher of history for 7 years. I have driven an 18 wheeler and worked as a chef. For the last 12 years I have worked as a field Engineer in the Telcom Industry.

My gaming experience started when I was 8 years old with a nice game called panzerblitz. I contiuned with this game to a point where I would send multple divisions against each other. For those who are familiar with the game will understand how sick this really is....lol. I have played over 200 of the avalon hill and SPI and GDW game genre's. Not until I joined the blitz did I find the level of opponent that I looked for most of my life. I have over 300 PBEM games under my belt......unfortunately those are all in the WW2 time period. I am now trying to bring myself up to speed with WINSPMBT.

What I am finding is that I have alot to learn. But this seems to be a very enthusiastic group and I am happy to be a part of it. The older part...lol. Well nice to meet all of you.

Happy Holidays

Hello, I am 38 yrs from Gävle, Sweden
Im doing programming and startups of automation systems for big chiller plants, mainly focusing on icehockey arenas.

I have always had a strong interst in the history of WWII,
When VHS tapes came along in my young teenages I saw all the movies there were about the WWII theme.
Another interest of mine is riding enduro (its like motocross bikes in the forest, over rocks and swamps :D )

My PC gaming started with the Close Combat series, after playing those for some years then I found SPWaW and I was hooked instantly, but when I bought a LCD screen the fixed 800x600 res of SPWaW just looked awful on my PC so I put it aside and found Panzer Campaigns series by HPS sims and I been in to them the last 2-3 years.

With the WinSPMBT beeing released and with it the ability to have high res I had too try it out, and i like it so far its just that I have never had the interst in the modern warfare before so I dont recognice the names of the equipment and so on, but im trying to adapt to it.

I have looked at the combat campaigns before but never come too participte in one before, I am happy to be part of one now.
Nice too get too know you all.

Cheers and Happy Holidays. :)

Well, after all this time I guess I could throw down a bit of intel on me. Just don't go trying to use it to your advantage; likely you'll just run off crying to mommy at how pathetic my existence is. :)

Actually, in truth, I'm in the US Army in the artillery and have a certain fondness for any game that involves destruction in all its gory messiness. Have played several variour wargame type games, but this is the first time actually doing something like this with someone else over the computer, and certainly never before have I done something of this magnitude and scope.

Happy holidays everyone!

Hi there.
I'm 48 years old. I hold a MSc in Forestry and have for the last 20 years worked with nature protection and management. At the present I works for the Danish Forest and Nature Agency.

I have been interested in military history since my youth, discovering Avalon Hills boardgames in the late '70 - I own several of the them, but only played solitaire - opponents was hard to find at that time.
So gaming on PC was a huge step forward for me, when we got our first PC back in '87 (I think).

I can't remember all the different war games I have played, but some of them were Civilisation, a game called " Wargame Construction Set II - Tanks", Norm Kogers - Age of Rifles (still the best game in that period, those who plays TOAW will know the engine), and of cause SP when it first was available in Denmark.
When got an Internet connection and started playing PBEM, it was a shock - suddenly I started to loose all my games ;-).
I rarely play the AI anymore - it takes too much time, so I mostly uses my time on the few games I have running.
I have participated in Crimean Campaign (SPWaW)
And the Red Snow (SPWaW H2H).

My experience in SPMBT is very little; I have less than 10 PBEM games I think.

I'm looking forward to this campaign.

I am very glad to see that everybody posted a little bit about himself. This is looking very good!

Here are players with different experience and that IS normal. We both have differend strenghts and weaknesses. These training battles will help getting in shape. That is why I am usually mixing experienced people with new players to share their knowledge. Those who will make an effort will improve their gaming experience immensely and will gain a very unique gaming experience in this campaign. I remember I learned a LOT about SP in the previous campaign from the team's seasoned players.

Good luck to all of us!

Artur.

I am back to the game. Can someone update me on the situation in the Hungarian sector? I am ready to take their command if they are already engaged.
