How much interest is there in an 8-11 scenario Campaign set in May 2006 involving a company of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit operating against insurgents in the southern Phillippines (Sulu Sea area).

Lots!

:laugh:Actually, your Borneo Campaign is what sparked my interest for this area. I've been finding a lot of neat things from the links you've given the players in that one. :halo:

INTRODUCTION:
Years of guerrilla warfare in the Phillippines has finally reached the boiling point. With no end in sight and the insurgents becoming increasing bolder in their attacks, the Phillippine Administration is finally forced to ask for help from the international community. While many nations respond to the call, most only promise to provide logistical and technical support. Australia, Japan and the United States are the only ones to commit combat troops.

On May 1st, 2006 the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrives in the Sulu Sea near the Southern Phillippines. Their mission is to support Phillippine Special Forces conducting counter-insurgency operations. Just after midnight on May 2 the Marines begin boarding their assault vehicles and just before dawn begin the attack.

You are Captain Johnson, Commander of B Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

We are giving the Marines their due, for sure. The Caribbean Crisis campaign from the Wild Team will be out for folks to try the week before Christmas so its good to see the interest in the Jarheads.

It too has some unusual situations. Not trying to steal your thunder, DD. I think, knowing the quality of your work, this one will be another keeper in the game. Good luck with it.

I think the Marines, and the Marine Expeditionary Units in particular, give great opportunities for campaigns. The thing most unique to Marines is the MAGTF (Marine Air Ground Task Force) that means that air and land troops train and travel together as a cohesive unit.

And MEUs have some great things to pick from -- boat company, airmobile company and mechanized (AAV) company; you've got a platoon of SEALs attached as well as a direct-action Force Recon team; you've got ANGLICO spec ops arty spotters and Radio Recon forces; a full company of LAV-25s; a platoon of M1s (which the design team properly changed from 5 tanks to 4 recently); 4 avengers for air defense as well as 6 stinger teams; 8 TOW HMMVWs and 8 Jav teams; 6 Harriers; 4 Cobras; 3 heavy lifts (I think they actually use CH-53Es but in game you've got MH-53Es or the Sea Stallion variant); 3 Hueys for mobile C&C; 12 tubes of 155mm arty ... what more could you want!
