Just a philosophical insight -- The great Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi was once asked whats the secret of becoming a great bike rider,to which he replied "Ride a bike, ride a bike, ride a bike!" meaning a constant entering of races, and practice and training.
We can draw parallels with cmbb,as in my opinion there are no good or bad cmbb players, just experienced and inexperienced.
And as we all gain experience with each game we play (regardless of whether we win or lose) it follows that the more we play, the more expert we become !
By the same reasoning its far better to play a lot of ongoing smaller games (say 2000 pts or less) rather than just a few monsters.
I currently have 19 ladder pbems going, and have just completed 3 since joining the club a couple of weeks ago
Man, with greatest respect i must disagree with 'no bad players'. I am sure that there are more talanted and less talanted players as well, i know that but wont try to prove - might become personal! ;)

Okay mate if you twist my arm I think I'd say the only bad players are those who never learn from their mistakes.I beat a guy in one game because he advanced his armour over a hill in a ragged formation and I picked them off one by one. I told him "I'm glad they never crested together or I'd have been in trouble" and hoped he'd pick up on the hint. But in the rematch,he sent 'em over one by one yet again
Hey no disrespect to Mr Tzu,but the snake could do nothing if we strike at its head, belly and tail simultaneously with 3 armour groups :)
("A good army should be like a swift snake that counters with its tail when someone strikes at its head, counters with its head when its tail is struck, and counters with both when someone strikes it in the middle.")

Or perhaps we should take from that example that some learn quicker than others.
I told him "I'm glad they never crested together or I'd have been in trouble" and hoped he'd pick up on the hint.
:D Unless of course they were Russian tanks that were lower than vets and the german armor was more than a few hundred mtrs away. Of course they'd have had a better chance even then if they did it in unison, but there'd still have been a good chance a single German tank would have picked 2 of 3 if not all off before they had a chance to hit.
Genreally speaking off course :)

No way, you are never getting enough resourses for that - either three weak strikes which are easy to handle or a big one easy to evade, Old Tzu know what hes saying! :D

I'm no Guderian, but I always thought it was a BAD idea to crest hills, period. Tanks on elevated ground stand out for every AT gunner and his mother to see (I played an opponent once who sent a whole armored platoon of MK IVs up a hill and while his timing was great, those poor guys still went up like roman candles). Push those AFVs around rises on the field and in many instances they'll live longer.
