Its time to begin deployment planning and assignments and so I really need someone to step forward as the overall NATO Commander.

If neccessary I'll step up although I'd rather be more hands on. My command style may cause some difficulties. ;) I tend to task not ask. But of course there is room for dissent.

Also I need to activate another Battalion Commander.

But of course there is room for dissent. Its mainly for planning stuff but it also includes allocation of the Mines and Wire as well as assignment of Aircraft. Just because they are US or WG planes does not mean they are under the WG or US players direct control.

Those who are not involved in actual WinSPMBT battles in an Operational Turn should be providing other support such as reviewing ongoing AAR's for enemy intel, etc.

Also I need to activate another Battalion Commander. There should be some on the roster who are not committed to a specific nation as far as what they want to command. You can still fight as a unit commander as the senior command is mostly for Admin stuff.

This is what I see for the NATO players:

NATO
John Osborne - West German
Pergite - West German
Shadowcouger - United States
dita - Canadian
Spark Vark - Canadian
aef027 - NATO
Waape - United States
Shortreengage - United States
Temujin - West German
bison24 - NATO
Walther - NATO
Cougar_DK - NATO

Now my question is who is the Supreme NATO Commander? Who is the West German Brigade Commander? How do we get together and plan our mission? I don't see very much communcation happening right now.

Or am I jumping to fast right now?

Right now Shortreengage has sort of volunteered be the NATO Commander. That doesn't mean he should do all the planning and stuff and will need a rep from each of the other units to work with him to keep things rolling.

Shortreengage is also the US Force Commander. Its him and Waape. ShadowCouger is MIA.

Dita is the only active Canadian Cdr at this point. Spark Vark is MIA.

As for the WG unit, you or Pergite would be Bde Cdr. Temujin is MIA.

Those listed as NATO are mainly wanting to fight some of the battles but not necessarily commit to a specific unit or command. Think of them as Company Commanders in this, just wanting to fill in where they can contribute.

I will review all those who are MIA or who haven't ogged in since Nov 1 and remove their access (at least until they re-appear and request reinstatement.

At this point I need the NATO team to create 3 Recon elements (see 1st Task thread). Then the rest of the units will need to be deployed in the hex areas listed in the Mission thread. These can actaully be done at the same time.

Understood, If Pergite doesn't want to be the WG Bde Cdr, I will step in as the Cdr. But if he wants the job, thats fine with me and I will support him. Just don't give me a Custer last stand or an Alamo mission :p

Is there a separate thread for the NATO Commander to discuss the mission?

It's going to take me a while to get organized. COCAT, Printing maps etc. Also I'm a bit handicaped. As an old DAT turned CDAT the only thing I can type on is a CCP and IVIS :D

I thought Pergite was intrested in Division command? Have you heard from him? The young LT could be in the field.

In reality the national unts can be a groupd command since there will be times when a player may be gone due to RL for a while and orders and such must still be submitted.

It's going to take me a while to get organized. COCAT, Printing maps etc.COCAT is not a priority right now because I have the icon, txt and actual map files we'll use and I'm waiting on the revised version so I can take advantage of the extra # of icons. :)

Basically we need to organize the 3 Recon Co size elements and get them deployed onto the Map (via hex #). Once thats done I can post some initial intel information for your consumption. This will also stimulate some team questions because people will start thinking in terms of "Can we do this, etc?". Once I start postng the initial intel I will ask that the rest of the NATO force be deployed.

The hardest part in runningthese things is getting the ball rolling and the deployment part is always a log-jam. Once units are placed and movement orders begin to be posted it rolls a lot smoother and quicker.

Hmm, looks like its shortreenage for overall commander then....?

On overall communications front, does anyone use any instant messaging services? granted there are time differences, but perhaps some sort of "live" discussion may help? Just a thought?

Obviously, this is to complement as rather than replace the forums.
