1st Team Task!!

In anticipation of starting the campaign soon I need the NATO Team to create x3 Company size reconassaince units from the current OOB's. These forces will be deployed in any hex of row 8 on the Operational Map.

ALL other NATO units will deploy South of Hex Row 10 (or Rows 11-17) when we get to that point.

FYI, these must be 3 independent and full strength companies (+/-) some minor attachments (Armor, ADA, etc).

Its something you use to scout out enemy positions (recon by fire) and is really useless deployed on their own. Any other nation that have a fixed recce resource? It would help to know exactly what kind of mission these units are supposed to get.


I am otherwise ready to deploy a regular Pzg coy. The NATO commander where ever he his needs to take command and sort this out.

Been gone for awhile and now I'm back. Who is the Overall NATO COmmander and who is the German Brigade Commander? What PzG Bn do you want to control?

It would help to know exactly what kind of mission these units are supposed to get.These units will be deployed at the start of the campaign about 2-3 hexes (4-6km) in front of the main units. They will act as a NATO screening force and to probe for the WP forces that will be advancing from the North.

That tends to imply 3 Brigades up. Other than to generate scenarios what good is that?

Here we go! The US has NO Recon company as the DIVCAV handles that. In 1984 Brigades have no Recon. I'll have to assign a Guard mission to a line company. Crap.

These do not have to come 1 from each of the 3 involved nations. The WG have a decicated Recon element BUT the US and Canadians will have to assemble one from the recon units such as the BN Scouts. The units created need to be at least 2 platoons in size though so if the BN Scouts are used they may need an attached Platoon from a line company as support.

That tends to imply 3 Brigades up.There are 3 Brigades in the NATO team (in theory :D ) .

Other than to generate scenarios what good is that? An opportunity to establish early intel on the enemy and as you are somewhat correct, to generate some initial contact scenarios to primarilly work out any rules or game flow issues.

Hi again, been rather in and out myself for some period too. I would just like to command one of the Pzg batallions. I dont know if we have any higher hierarchy in this virtual bundeswher yet. Where there anyone else around that was going to play the germans?

I can't make that call, have to wait until DD gets back. However, that would be great because then we will have three (3) Tactical Commanders and one (1) Field Commander. It will work out with the three of us, Pergrite, myself, and you as the Tactical Commanders and Ralf as the Bde Commander, who after I checked again today will be joining us.

Can I get the team's DRAFT 3x Recon units posted here. I don't need exact hex locations yet BUT would like to get a DRAFT of them posted as I finalize the Rules.
