In anticipation of starting the campaign soon I need the Pact Team to create x3 Company size reconassaince units from the current OOB's. These forces will be deployed in any hex of row 7 on the Operational Map.
ALL other Pact units will deploy North of Hex Row 4 (or Rows 1-3) when we get to that point.
I hope we can do some planning here:
I tihnk we szhoudl use two companies of Recon units and one Cmopany of Tanks.
Thus we would have a very good Agressive recon force, able to counteract enemy recon.
A possible unit would consist of:
A company of East German SPW40-P, some (or all?) with RPG teams.
- they're fast and small and with RPGs are a good unti to penetrate the enemy's rear area.
Another recon unit. Or a BTR Company to match the speed of the SPW40/BRDMs
A company of Tanks. Most preferably T-72/64.
- gives a good offensive punch.
----> I planned to attach my T-72 comapny to my Recon Batallion, as I think it is very practical to ho have a fast recon unit, able to deliver a punch into the tactical rear area of the enemy. Scouting with the Recon vehicles and evading with the tanks to get them into the rear to kill ADA or Artillery...
Questions:
1. What is the deadline for the recon deployment?
2. What is the bigest unit that can be placed on a single hex?What is the size of the smallest unit?
3. What is the deadline for the rest of the deployment?
4. Are operational rules finalized? If not I do not suggest to do any moves before. (I would have some questions anyway.)
5. There was a hassle with the Cobra armament. What is the final decision?

5. There was a hassle with the Cobra armament. What is the final decision?Cobra's will have option to add TOW (4 maximum and they will be basic TOW's (not ITOW's or TOW 2's).
Just an FYI, the NATO side still has no commander.

FYI, these must be 3 independent and full strength companies (+/-) some minor attachments (Armor, ADA, etc).
-The company sized unit is the biggest or the smallest unit on a hex?
-If NATO gets TOWs can we get Sturm missiles as well? (Without TI of course.)
I have some operational questions as well.
-Can damaged planes be used in the next OP turn?
-Can Arty be used in battles as off board asset? (This way they can be stationed in the rear like in RL).
-What is the decision about supply rules?

-Can damaged planes be used in the next OP turn?Yes, they would be considered repaired at the beginning onf the next OP Turn, unless KIA'ed of course.
-Can Arty be used in battles as off board asset? (This way they can be stationed in the rear like in RL).Only if they are far enough back so as not to be included in the Tactical Battle area. Chances are they WILL be on-board and you will need to exit them off the map if they are threatened with possible attack and you want to save them.
-What is the decision about supply rules?I'm working on them wwhere I can use the clone feature to speed up editing of units in certain circumstances. It will only really impact units that are surrounded.

What is your final decision about the helo missille issue? Giving them TOWs while leaving us with Fleytas will unballance the OOBs even more.

Isn't Shortreengage the nominate for NATO command? He defends NATO interests so ferociously :).No one has stepped forward yet. Shortreengage is primarilly defending US interests, not NATO's a s a whole.

-You told there can be a battlaion in one hex at the most. Cant there be some support with it like one recon co with 1 ATGM co or an armor BN with 1 inf co + 1 recon co+ 1 ATGM co?
-How much ammo will be assigned to artillery if used in off-line mode?

PS: So are we going to get better ATGMs for the Mi24s?

I think those Mi-24s should have Sturm missiles. This is the equivalent of TOW. Otherwise you should arm NATO with SS-11 missiles.

Each hex is 2 km in size so most battles will probably be 2-3 hexes by 2-3 at least. Thats why I want the to keep a limit to a BN+ in each hex. This will also help reduce the multiplayer PBem games.

A reinforced BN at most (a BN with 1 other co). Remember the hex is only 2km in size. A Mech BN with dismounts would be wall to wall units .
-How much ammo will be assigned to artillery if used in off-line mode?What I will do is go into the editor replicate the exact SPA unit by changing the weapons and ammo load in the OffBoard unit to to the SPA data. Mainly I will keep the same # of tubes, same caliber and ammo as the actual SPA unit as best I can in the editor.
PS: So are we going to get better ATGMs for the Mi24s?Let me check the stats in MobHack and I'll decide.

Make it 24-25 ok? That is 2 hours, quite on the tagret. Assault needs more time.

This seems awfully long time for me. You can rush reinforcements from every part of the area to the site of battle in two hours. That makes every tactical turn a strategical or we have very slow communication if it takes two hours to react any situation. Just an observation, correct me if I'm wrong.

You have a point here.
There is one pro and against the 24 turn battles. The bad thing as you mentioned, that you cannot react only after 2 hours. The good thing is that it requires less administration.
DD told that it will be a 12 hour campaign. that is 6 OP turns in case of 24 turn battles or 12 op turns in case of 12 turn battles.
It is up to DD to decide.

Can I get the team's DRAFT 3x Recon units posted here. I don't need exact hex locations yet BUT would like to get a DRAFT of them posted as I finalize the Rules.
The three forward recon companies come from 9 Rec Bn/9th Tk Div and the heavy weapons co. of 3 Bn/9th MRR/9th Tk Div (NOTE we did not use the x2 T-62M1975 and x3 SPW-40P AT-3 they should be attached to the GDR armor co.)
The weapons company is disbanded (9BTR 12 malutka team 6 Mg team)
One recon company consists (1 recon co + 1 platoon(1/3rd co) of the BTR weapons co.)
x9 SPW-40P
x8 RPG-7 Team
x3 Infantry Squad
x3 SPZ BMP-1P
x3 BTR-60PB
x4 Malutka Team
x2 7.62mm PKM MMGs
Make it X three . I would need a bit more time to define the hexes.
