Comrades,

Since noone has stepped up for being the CO I volunteer for the role myself. I am really surprised that noone wants this position as it is a very interesting and challenging task one of the best wargaming experience. Trust me I have done it before :D .

As I stated before my time is limited but this thing is too good to not being done. If you put your trust in me I will surely need your help as I will not be able to do the job alone. I have to build up a staff quickly as there is a LOT of things waiting for being done.

If my application will be accepted I wish to do the following ASAP:

1. Build a staff which has
a. An Intel officer (who will collect operational intel data - hounding battle commanders if needed- and working out effective recon tactict on tactical level) and his substitute
b. An air force liaison officer (who will be our air and air defense expert - he does many experimenting with the tools and works out effective tactics) and his substitute
c. A chief instructor (who will organize the training executions - hounding players with low turn rate :) - ) and his substitute
d. A propaganda officer
e. my substitute who will be ready to take over the tasks any time I may (temporarily )drop out
Everybody would have a task aside the winSPMBT battles, this is a combat campaign which has more to offer than just tactical battles. This may be designing training scenarios for example.

2. Organize training battles ASAP with EVERY player. (Reserve players will have a good chance of showing their abilities.) Everyone will have a chance to improve his skill with training battles and sharing common knowledge. It payed off very well in the previous campaign.

3. Analyse the map and find out how we could use terrain to our advance.

4. We have to help DD in finalizing the campaign rules.

5. We shall make an operational plan together. After having training battles and map analysis we will both know the equipment and terrain to make it right.

Those who participated in Red Snow campaign know me and my habbits. I wish to do the same here with the exception that I need a more active staff than I had there. Those who did not participate can go through the activities on the forum at the combat-campaigns site :
http://www.combat-campaigns.com/smf/

So comrades hear your voice about this, if you agree please let me know if you are interested in a specific staff position. If the staff positions will not be filled we cannot fight this campaign successfully.

DD even your reflection is welcome I am not sure this is good news for you :p .

Of course if anybody wishes to be the CO I respectfully step down allowin somebody else to have the experience I had in the Red Snow campaign.

Artur.

I can be your propaganda officer if you let me. There is no-one on the other side who knows my reputation :)

I participated in RS but know nothing of your habits, I was on the Russian side (commander of the southern tankco in the early parts) which might explain that. It is an advantage to have a CO with experience.

Vesku,

Thank you for the offer. If my application will be accepted you will be the propaganda officer, if not I am sure the other commander will accept it as well.

I am glad to do intel work. That is my favourite.

Pannonicus,

Thank you for the offer as well. The same goes for you too as for Vesku.

Artur.

PS: Comrades, I see many views and only two supporting votes. If that will not change much I think the best thing for me to do is respectfully withdaw my application. It is no point doing this if I do not have the support of the majority of the comrades taking part in the campaign. I can practice self criticism, and step off if I am not the person suitable for this job.

I believe that most are just shy. Being silent is a way to accept your offer, only opposing posts are relevant :)

Artur, I enthusiastically support your being the CO! I fought with you in RS and enjoyed the experience! I would like to be on the staff, but I'm not sure in which capacity yet.

Tanker, if you are thinking about staff positions let me give you two points:

If you are good at coordinating than the instructor officer position is for you. You do not have to be very good ad playing SPMBT but rather being good at dealing with people. You have to track the progress of the training battles and recruit scenario designers to make training battles, and also pair up people for training battles.

If you are better in experimenting and finding out things than the Air liaison officer is a better choice. Then you have to do a lot of experimenting with AIR stuff and working out effective ways of dealing with them. You have to advise how to use our air and ainti-air assets during the campaign.

Let me try the Air Liaison position.

Ok Tanker thank you for the offer. The same goes for you as for Vesku and Pannonicus.

Comrades,

I would like to tell a few things more about the chief instructor officer:
He has a very important role because:
1. Everybody without exception needs to have as many training battles as he can play in order to get used to the equipment, and to get in the best shape possible with WinSPMBT. There are a lot of players including myself who migrated from SPWaW to WinSPMBT and a lot of things work very differently between the two engines. Each of us needs as much experience as possible.
2. We need to share our tips and tricks, to improve our game play. Combat campaigns can improve the knowledge of the players immensely if done right. I was a much better player by the time Red Snow campaign was over than I was when it started. All I learned was from my excellent team mates.
3. Doing the training work properly will be a great efficiency multiplier when the "real" fighting is taking place. For those familiar with TOAW that means that all units represented by those simplified rectangles have at least a X1,2 or even X1,5 higher combat value. Or even more!!!
3. If any of you wishes to fill a CO position in a future combat-campaign this is a good position to start. You will learn to deal with people and coordinate activities.

The CO in this campaign needs very badly a person in his staff who can do this job. Everybody is capable to do it you do not have to be an expert player in WinSPMBT yet you still can help the team a LOT. Yes I mean a LOT. You may ask why does'nt the CO do that ? The answer is that the CO has many other things to look after.

As a side note those who joined the team lately can still do a great performance in this role.
If my application will be accepted, training will be going on continuously, everybody will have the chance to play training battles besides the "real" fighting as much as his time allows to.

Artur, since you are the only one to have stepped forward then I will give you my support as overall commander. As for a staff position, I am hesitant to step up for something of this given my schedule. I am willing to do something but I don't know what I can or cannot do based on the amount (or lack thereof) of time I have available.

Artur

I ask the other team mates who agree to vote here. (And of course those who don't :) )

Artur, thanks for taking up the challenge, it is my pleasure to serve with you.

If I have a weeks time I can get some Air Force/Air Defense testing working, if thatS' a help.

And you can be sure of my support in planning of tactical and strategic operations.

Let's kick some NATO ass!

Thank you for the offer. Our Air defense liaison officer is Tanker but he will sure need a substitute. You can discuss and share those tasks together. (I will give you a lot of questions to look after. )

If you would like to coordinate the operational planning I can make you a G3 officer. Then you collect ideas from all players and work together with me and the others who wish to take part on the operational plan.

Artur.

PS: Would't you like to coordinate the training? It would help us a LOT.

mr clark, I will happily coordinate air tactics and defense with you if you wish to participate in that capacity.

I'd like to work together with you.

@Artur: I would like to do some training stuff, but my problem is that I have a very limited timeframe thanks to university, and thus don't really beleive I could handle anything too big. Depends what you have in mind.

Collecting ideas and refining them sounds like sometihng I could do, though we might need a little mroe discussion to start up for it to make real sense...

Thank you comrades for this excellent attitude. I admit we will have a very tough task but it is a pleasure to tackle it with you. :smoke:

Until there is no volunteer for the training coordinator job I have to do it. However that means that if I have to track the progress of the training battles, the unit commanders have to track their subordinates' PBEM progress regarding the real fight. That is Pannonicus for the Hungarians, mr_clark for the East Germans and Vesku, Jad for the Russians.

I have a Tank regiment under my command but if DD approves my CO position I will resign from that command of course. I will take the liberty to appoint the new commander though. The decisive input will be gained from the training battles we are going to play. ;)

DoubleDeuce, if you approve it I will start my CO activites.

Mr Clark,

I've been reading your many excellent posts on the use of air assets and Anti Air weapons and I feel your grasp of the subject is far superior to mine so I look forward to perhaps some small training battles of our own for testing out air defence?

I am quite buisy atm, so I have just started to prepare a simple battle to evaluate the use of AAA and Aircraft effectiveness over diffrent terrain. (I am planning a couple of scenarios with 'target vehicles' and Anti Air units positioned in different vegetation, and then let the different Aircraft attack them.)
I will be able to produce a couple of testing scenarios over the weekend and will distribute them with my comments to your and general use.

These are very good ideas. It will sure give us good knowledge about the Air & ADA units.
I ask you to start a training battle with Tanker as 1st priority though as your time allows. (I know you must have several exams in the next few weeks) See battle description in the training registry thread.

Hi, I am back on board, but have limited internet access right now. So just send me battles, I will play them, but not much opportunity to discuss here in the next week.

Arthur,

You have my vote for the CO position. Sorry it took me so long to vote. I hope to keep up better as we move forward. I have time and offer my assistance where you can use it. I am not that experienced in this type of format but usually I manage to push forward with new things.

Jadpanther

Also looking for other members of our team to play traing battles against. Anyone interested?
