Not to step on my NATO Commander toes, but FM 71-2 is superseded by the current document which is FM 3-90.1 dated June 2003.

You can go here to download it, FM 3-90.2 (http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=01DEFLY70TWFQ2HO612RRF2AGF) you have only seven days to download it, then it gets removed.

Thanks for that info. I, like the FM am somewhat out of date :( I don't think anyone has read 71-2 for that mater. Oh well.

Posting from Leavenworth? Interesting. Maybe you should wear this hat as a PE? :D

Download complete. Thanks.

I work at the Command and General Staff College, classroom 7, here at Fort Leavenworth. Mike, knows where I work at :) Now I may be old  what is a PE?

What is the availability of each FM? Both should be fine as "guides". If choosing a reference becomes an issue, I suggest we go with the most accessable one.

If you click on FM3-90.2 you can download it right now. I didn't post this to step on anybodys toes. Its Shortreengage call on which one to use. Me it doesn't matter, but FM3-90.2 is easy to read.

I can make it available at anytime if someone needs it.

Cool...finding pubs can be a royal pain. Tis' the only reason why I brought up accessibility.

That's right folks I'm talking about the 8 troop leading procedures. Or how to make a plan. This stuff not only works in the military it works in real life too.

1) Receive and analyze the mission

2) Issue a warning order

3) Make a tenative plan

4) Start neccessary movement

5) Conduct a reconnaissance

6)Decide and complete the plan

7)Issue the order

8)Supervise and refine the plan

Try it next family trip or check to see if you are already doing it :)
