Simply head to wherever you installed Civ IV, then the folder called Mods.

Unzip the files into that folder (make sure to keep the path of the files intact).

Then load the game, go to Advanced -> Load Mods -> select the mod to load. It'll restart Civ IV and you can play with the mod set up.

SZO Realism Mod v0.01 :D

Changed the combat strength of land/sea/air units.

The formula in this version is based on what "age" the unit fits into, with the following benefits added-
First Age: x1 (same strength)
Second Age: x2
Third Age: x4
Fourth Age: x6
Fifth Age: x8
Sixth/Final Age: x10

As of right now all I did was make sure that the unit strength showed up (i.e. made sure that units didn't have a strength cap of 99 or something like that).

I'm going to go start a game in a bit hopefully and see how it actually plays. Feedback is appreciated.

Next Steps:

-Tweaking unit strengths
-Expanding Tech Tree (?)
-Expanding Unit Selections (?)
-Expanding the timeline of the game (even with the different settings, I feel like a game goes too quick :p )

Yay!

I like the version number :D.

Hopefully I can contribute as soon as I catch a giant chunk of time on some safari....

At the moment the goal is just to drastically reduce the spearmen vs. tank issue.

Apparently it works on straight odds. So now, rather than the odds being 40:8 or whatever for a medieval unit against modern armor the odds are more like 400:8 :p

This makes so so that you do NOT want to someone of a higher tech level coming after you. I'd suggest playing it on noble or so however, because likewise, it'll be extremely easy if you play it on an easy setting. The computer won't even have a slight chance.

Thanks danny, I'd suggest giving the game a go regularly first for a game or two, and then trying with the mod to compare. It will make situations very one sided, but in a slightly more historically accurate way I think.

it's not one sided if you're the Civ with the more advanced units!!
:) :) :)
