Meeting PBEM opponents?

So you've been playing your CM opponent "CM-Guru" now for 3 years but have you ever met him face to face?

How many of you have actually met anyone you've PBEM'd with? Not counting the friend across town you got hooked on CM.

And if you did, did you say, "This is the guy who's been kicking my bu**?!" :surprise: :mad:

I've meet one of mine: MattyB after playing the TOAW scenario "Europe Aflame" PBEM- we played one game for 3 years- before we finished it up. I drove 11/2 hours to meet him for dinner while on a business trip.

Then again maybe it's better if you don't meet face to face- I kind of liked the idea that at least "Sean Connery" as a UK airborne General was kicking my bu** . But then to see what NORAD really looks like- :censored: well you can imagine my let down... :eek:

Several members of KampfGruppe have met each other. We had a trip to the Aberdeen Proving grounds last year and I think 8 or 10 members made it out for that. We came from all over the country, Florida (GDS_Starfury), Texas(KG_Soldier), Michigan (KG_CLoghaun), Ohio (KG_SSpoom), Pennsylvania (KG_Koz, Kharkov and Vlad) to name a few and from the pictures, they appeared to have had too good of a time.

I, myself, have met KG_Cooper (San Fransisco), KG_Goffy (Simi Valley), KG_Panther (San Diego and Orange County), KG_Mauserman (4th Infantry Division).

It truly puts a different spin on the PBEM thing to know that you have looked into the beady little eyes of your next victim and seen fear.
