I was wondering if others are seeing the same thing I am in regards to the Axis in 1940.
This truly is the year of the Axis, much more so than it really was.
In my current game against Chuck, in 1940 he was able to defeat the French, move many German units into NA (think he may have, hopefully, given up on that front), invaded and advanced into England and is also now advancing into Russia (we're mid/late '41 now.)
I have played several hotseat games and find the same thing happening most every time. The Germans can attack anywhere and, almost, everywhere at will in 1940 and 1941.
The best possible solution, to me, is to have a temporary reduction in Axis supply 4-6 turns after a major DOW (ala France). Major being USSR DOW and invasion of England. This would delay his advance, give the allied player a little more time to regroup or even counterattack. In addition to the change in Libian supply, a better balance would be achieved. The game seems, to me, to be balanced much more in the Axis players direction. I've yet to see the Allies win a game.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Also, has the U.S. even been a factor in the game for anyone? Or has the game pretty much been decided before the U.S. really get involved? If so, this ties into my Axis '40/'41 comment :)
