Ray, I was wondering what you thought with regards to holding an international tournament. We could have teams of 5 players from each country, One team of us British, One Canadian team, two teams from the USA and a team made up from all other countries.

We could then all play off against each other accumulating points for a win, draw etc..with the points beeing allocated to a table like the Football(Soccer) World Cup.

It would probably take a lot of organising but I'm sure it could be done. What does everyone think?

What about Hooligans Spartan? I'm in if each team gets an allotment of them, with the caveat that UK hooligans will be assigned a higher assault factor. I guess American preference for fire arms makes UK and Euro hooligans more effective in close assault with fist to cuffs and improvised melee weapons. A decided advantage in most venues of soccer(football)

All kidding aside -that's a good idea Rich!

Take care

B.

Rich, I think that is a great idea. However, as a Brit living in the US, which team do i qualify for? :)

michammer -you should get to choose I think..

yongster - you are with us! (or U.S.) us..

What kind of organizing would need to happen?

Ray, I'd be willing to assist you in that in any way you would need if it would help the tourney to occur and if it's easy. What I mean is; time consuming is fine, but I 'm not a rocket scientist with computers....Word processing, making tables and dealing with the internet are no problem but other than gaming and email, they're about the extent of my 'puter savyness. So, that's my hat in the ring.

Great idea. Something to think about for sure. I have another idea already cooking that I don't want to reveal at this time. I am working out the details for now. I am still alive in the International tournament that started many months ago on another web site. Campaign Portal (http://www.campaign-portal.de/g3/turnier/turnier_eng/ef2-interturnier_eng.htm)

It has gone very well, but it is not in a team format like you suggested. I like that idea alot.

Something for people to think about are how to decide which scenarios to use, which I feel is always the hardest and most important thing to make it fair.

Keep throwing out ideas, and I would probably like to have an assistant or two also.

Cheers,
Ray

I just checked out the link - I didn't even realize the site existed. It's interesting seeing who advanced and who didn't. I was shocked by all the names I recognized too.

Surprising how Scorched Earth was knocked out in the first round - as he's just about the toughest oppenent on this site - but the guy who did it is still in the semi finals, so he must be damn good.

Too bad nearly everything on the site is in German.

"but the guy who did it is still in the semi finals, so he must be damn good."

I don't know what you mean by this. Puma is the guy that ran this tourney and he got knocked out a couple of rounds ago. Or am I missing something? I usually do!

Cheers,
Ray

Hi all, i would be interested in joining in this event (or something like it). Ray, is there is anything i can do to assist it would be a pleasure.

Regarding that 1st game, i still have nightmares about it :nervous: I found it a hard game and after a several turns i realised that for me it was un-winnable. It was a good opponent that done me in...

cheers for now
