And so:
--We have people from the Blitz, Rugged Defense, SZO, & TDG, along with the usual wild asses of the desert, the lunatic fringe, and the otherwise independent.
--Of the 20 people listed 8 are mostly known as designers, 12 as players.
--Apart from that, the multi-national presence here I think is quite impressive and I couldn't resist highlighting the international make-up of the group as it is evolving. Alphabetically--if those listed as pending ending up joining--we will have gamers and designers from:
Canada
Finland
France
Great Britain
Ireland
Italy
New Zealand
Poland
Portugal
Spain
Sweden
Ukraine
U.S.A.
I tried for a Turk, I really did....

Any ideas yet on when you plan to begin the scenario evaluation & selection process?

The group has just formed up and we'll be targetting the online scenario archives to go through, and how we do it this week. I think by the weekend we should be starting to actively look at scenarios. A couple of things to keep in mind:
--we'll be plugging at it steadily but until we have some kind of time-frame for a patch we are going to proceed systematically with the assumption we have a fair chunk of time to work with. When we have a clearer time-frame we'll adjust accordingly, and when the patch is actually out and Brian's group is testing it we should be attempting to wrap our side of it up at that point.
--Our systematic sifting through scenarios passively sitting "out there" will be augmented by recommendations made by players here. I hope it goes without saying that whatever scenarios people recommend at large on the forums will get special attention.
Daniel
Greetings. The computer-illiteratti have found the thread.
Got to admire the list of 'major' names involved in the project, eh?
'twould be good to ensure SOME of the 'huge' games get mentioned!
Please update 'news' concerning project advancement........
(would an Armenian grt-grt grandfather count as turk?)
(would an Armenian grt-grt grandfather count as turk?)
I do not think any Armenians would agree with that notion...
Lok;
Some how, I doubt the turks would either, lol!
@stauffenberg:
If you will, please include some of the 'huge' scenarios that have at least 'some' PO's included. This should give new players a 'good reason to go pbem'.
Not everyone does pbem, eh?

The group has just formed up and we'll be targetting the online scenario archives to go through, and how we do it this week.
Been about six weeks since the group formed, can you give us a progress report? The number of scenarios making the cut, the time periods/conflicts covered by the scenarios, the ETA . . . anything that might be of interest.
Any type of food nugget would be appreciated . . . you can see by the lack of current postings that interest might be drying up.
Regards, RhinoBones
If it helps, I've found out that the developers are under contract not to discuss the game. I guess that means it'll probably be David Heath that makes any announcements. He did reply to a similar post with:
"You will be getting a lot more then crumbs very soon. I am personally working on this and there just a lot to put together all at once. "
I imagine that before any new features can be tested there's alot of 'matrixification' to do. Like you I'm dying to know what they're doing.
I sent Matrix an E-mail. Is this is the route to go.

Almost another six weeks and no reply to this post. Really makes me wonder about the integrity of the group that was formed. A simple "unable to respond due to Matrix restrictions" would suffice. But no, there was no attempt to respond. Why has this posting have been ignored.
I have also posted on ‘Matrix – TOAW’ concerning progress of TOAW-COW. This post has been equally ignored. I understand that Matrix has restrictions, but to completely ignore questions is absurd.
This makes one wonder about the owners of the games and their inability (or should I say refusal) to communicate with the users.
I share your frustration. David Heath said he's 'personally ' working on this. I have a theory that this game is such a good engine and easily upgradable as opposed to games Matrix is pretty much starting from scratch that it is being prioritized to the point that there is no one to monitor the website. Call it an optimistic one.

No conspiracy at all, it just that we are busy, sadly, not only with TOAW. Will it be enough to say that we have advanced and are working on it? I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but those are the rules.

agreed. I can't speak for anyone else, but when the question was posted I kept quiet hoping someone with the authority to say more would chime in. The first rule of working under an NDA is "when in doubt keep your mouth shut".

If not with TOAW, then what? Is this a way of saying that TOAW will have to wait until another project is completed? Oh well, it's your company. I thought I had 'sound business sense' on my side. It seems my previous post was indeed overly optimistic.

No, nothing as sinister, I have my wife in bed and have to take care of her, which curtails the time I can dedicate to my hobbies. By the way, it's not "our" company, we are all unpaid volunteers and get nothing out of this beyond the satisfaction of furthering a wargaming program that we reckon among the best, but that still has room for improvement. I know how hard is to sit by the sidelines while seemingly nothing happens, but be assured that despite all other distractions I am devoting every spare minute to TOAW.
Good enough? ;)
Explanation accepted. Sorry about your wife.
Best wishes for your wife, and you, Jose. I know that flu season hit my family hard, coinciding as it did, with the twins going into a new daycare, and of course being exposed to a slew of new bugs... :nervous:
The holiday season is always a busy one for my family, as my wife starts going into full-blown stress mode about a week before Halloween, and it doesn't let up until after the New Year.

Thanks guys, she's better now and since we have a week off in Christmas, I´ll get to do "real" work again.

With Matrix updating TOAW, does this mean a new shelf copy of it? Or do we have to hunt and pick our way on the internet to find a copy?
