I would like to make this official and announce Brian "Siberian HEAT" King will be stepping into the role of the Development Manager. I am sure Brian will be along any minute to update you. Remember if you want to be on the beta teams you need to know that Brian is happy to take all types of cash and gifts. :halo: Honestly we are very lucky and honored to have him on board. Please give him as much help as possible.

Well, I just read one debate at CS forum and this guy is right, Matrix Games has trying to grab everything they can. A Monopol. TOAW is nice property especially when it have BETTER FREE scenarios then Matrix Games (including WITP, WaW etc... - I know better TOAW scenarios than those games).
I will not buy TOAW Matrix Edition.
Personally I would prefer that guys from Battlefront.com have bought TOAW property. They at least HAD one GOOD game and that's it Combat Mission.
Garbage that Matrix games is shoveling on to players - is indication why they bought TOAW - a truly diamond- they bought it just because to make us players to dish to them 300 US$ in a few version over time. And that game designers fall to their prey and make scenarios that WORKS ONLY with TOAW Matrix Edition. Thanks god, all the best scenarios are made before Matrix monopol arrived. Me don't likes Matrix.

Actually, since the 'Matrix Edition' is likely to become the standard, you will probably have to choose between buying that or no longer playing TOAW- much the same as with 'Century of Warfare'.

I never really liked Combat Mission. What's more, the ability to make a good tactical game does not translate to the ability to make a good operational game.
...an interesting reaction. I won't say you're certainly wrong- there are a lot of questions about how Matrix will handle this. But I think you could be a tad more optimistic, and prepared to give Matrix a chance.

That wouldn't be very different from Talonsoft putting out TOAW I, then II, the Elite, WOTY and finally CoW. Where did you see that scenarios designed with CoW worked under TOAW I? The only critical point is to keep the scenario editor, full stop. Besides I can't find anything wrong with a company making money, all the more when said company seems to be taking the gamers' input into account for the future of the game.

MarioSo basically you'll stick with the buggy TAOW CoW 1.04 and its dwindling user base. Tough luck within a few years when you don't find anyone to play FitE then :)

P.S. Don't get me wrong on the Matrix account: I never bought anything there and I'm no shareholder in the company. Actually I don't care a bit who owns the game, be it Matrix, Battlefront, Wal-Mart or General Motors provided TOAW keeps going and improving.

I think this question has been asked from you already, but under what rock you have been hiding when Matrix has released games like WITP and HTTR? You may not personally like either of them (or any other of their releases), but anyone with a half of a brain knows that they are quality games. But I guess that your BS statement fits well into your (or that other looney's at the CS thread) consipacy theory. There's always an effing nutcase or two with their end of the world ideas when big news like this come out.
Yes, I was first a bit sceptical myself towards this development, but after seeing how well TOAW-community is involved with the project I have no major worries.

Well Brian Congrats on landing this one and the best of luck in developing the next version of COW.
At the same time I don't envy your task because you will never be able to satisfy everyone!
For me personally I would like to see an immediate patch (if possible) that would fix of the more obvious bugs with a release time of say 3/6 months then focus on a fuller release on CD and/or download say 12/18 months down the line.
Are you looking for playtesters or have you a team picked?
If so what's entailed? :)

I have sat quietly by and listened to you griping day in and day out about Matrix Games. And it's not just here. You're doing it on the war-historical newsgroup, and pretty much any other forums that you frequent. You were going to 'wait and see', but apparently among the thousands and thousands of users that frequent all the sites you go to, you have finally found one that agrees with you. And now you are 100% against TOAW, etc etc etc.
Ok. We've heard you. (Over and over and over and...) We get it, alright? Reading that constant diatribe of yours is starting to really rain on the parade over here. It is your right to dislike Matrix. It is our right to like them, if we choose. And for every negative word you've posted, there are 10 people who like MGs. Myself included. Now I don't worship them, and I don't think everything they release is pure gold. Like everyone, they have their hits and misses.
But you are beating a dead horse; you've made your opinion known, so please quit pushing it down our throats. Once you've said something, you should stop repeating it from the top of the mountain, day in and day out. Let me share something my mother used to tell me when I was a little kid:

I don't understand the "I hate Matrix Games" people for the most part.
I had a falling out with a slice of the Matrix Games forums community (years back too) and as a result I absolutely refuse to post there now.
Means absolutely nothing to whether I like their games though.
I like to ***** and moan about how Combat Leader is a game promised eons ago, and still shows little forward movement (to an observer).
But that doesn't mean squat to whether their other games are good investments.
I think it is impressive, that every time I go there, seems like Matrix Games has expanded, but I don't think there is reason for alarm.
There might be reason for alarm, if I were to go there for a month, and NOTHING ever changes ie no new posts.
I think it will suck, if the only option I have is to buy TOAW again, if any new work is to be enjoyed.
But when I consider how many wargames I have, it's not the end of the world.
It's only the end of the world, if your world revolves around just one game.
I think this is why some of the CM crowd are in such a state. It's because their whole world is CM, and they have been told they are not the be all and end all of the owners lives, even if CM is the center of THEIR lives.
Again, I can't understand the "I hate Matrix Games" crowd. It's not like they sold you buggy **** that won't run and which they refuse to fix is it?

OK, I have been thinking and for the sake of the TOAW - I will put aside my personal feelings toward Matrix - if majority is OK with that I am not partybreaker and who knows maybe I even buy this game. Well, maybe.
It's OK that Daniel McBride is involved - so maybe I am wrong hehe... Of course some words were rude from my side but some were exactly what I think - I much more enjoyed The Great War 2.0 than Crown of Glory, WITP or HTTR. Insane? Yes, that is "insane" but not quite because even Matrix have proved that Daniel McBride is worth. BTW, I am entitled to have my own opinion about quality of todays wargames - who don't like my opinion is their problem. Before we had Panzer General, later we got World at War, I liked much more Panzer General.
In fact without TOAW there would be almost no wargames to play for me.
And Shrapnel also put one good game out DOMINIONS II.
So, I will not spoil the fun - in fact I didn't meant anything to sound negative. Well, it's not my fault that there is so few wargaming companies. If Matrix wants to grab everything what he can yes OK he can do that. My matter is to like something or to dislike. And I will not respond to any posts. Why? Because you on the western hemisphere know what "freedon of speech" means I guess. Know your rights hehe. So let's leave this matter in peace.

BTW, I was born in 1972. let's say that I have traveled around the world like not so many have traveled from ex-Yugo.
Even that have made me cosmopolit but not just that. I have listened to The Clash and many others so I was rebel at heart since my youth. And never, never not close to communism. It may be strange to you but lot's of ex-Yugo citizen have worked in Germany for example, my father was among them - he was enginner in one German company for four years. That also have left trace to me.
BTW, speaking about Eastern Europe I can guarantee to you that Yugoslavia was much better country than Hungar (try to go there and they will put a sign on your passport even now when you cross the border, legacy from Russian rule), so if you speak even in joke to me like komrade - well Yugoslavia was different than any Eastern Block country, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Rumania, etc... We didn't had Russians here. Also, since 1960-1980 communist regime in Yugoslavia was not so solid block. 1980's also have given so many cultural phenomens in Yugoslavia, and even rock music was great here in that period, and that is also part of freedom, good music! (Azra band was esp. important, and their leader Branimir Stulic, I used to speak with him many times on the phone, man is a genius - it's like yugo Joe Strummer! :)).
So when I say freedom of speech I didn't mean that I didn't have it - every man have to fight for it, if that means last ounce of blood be it. I meant that freedom of speech is one of the legacy of western hemisphere and I consider myself part of it - no matter how strange that may sound to you. In fact I don't think that those savage and stupid people from the Balkans are majority and that they are mirror for us to show to the world, they are lodest but they are not mirrior. So I don't consider myself inferior to anyone - quite contrary I think that the Balkans are navel of the world - and I would not change it for any USA at anytime - better food, better women and historical transcendency of thousand years. I can tell you that many men and women from the Balkans are genethically wonders, believe it or not. That's not patriotism that's just genethically ... something. Well, on one theory Troy is in Gabela hehe. But I don't have anything against your French patriotims, in fact I know that French are big patriots! :) But, The Balkan is magical place believe it or not. Stranger, this is holy place :)

Haha, well I hope that it's not music called Turbo Folk - the Serbs invented it but in fact this is more like Turkish music. That's horrible and I think that's the part of the reason for war (lousy music - even Platon once said that only free people were allowed to listen to GOOD music, slaves were allowed to listen only to BAD music - good analogy with world today as well :laugh:).
BTW, once in Munich I somehow got myself into some Turkish disco, my God, I relized that horrible Serbian Turbo Folk is that, influenced by cheap Turkish music...
I don't have anything against great TRADITIONAL songs from anywhere around the world, and Balkan included, there are great traditional songs from Macedonia, Bosnia (Sevdah), Serbia, Croatia... Also, good singer is Toma Zdravkovic, he is also folk music but not trash like turbo folk, he had great voice and great songs, I like his music.

I will not buy TOAW Matrix Edition.
Garbage that Matrix games is shoveling on to players - is indication why they bought TOAW - a truly diamond- they bought it just because to make us players to dish to them 300 US$ in a few version over time. And that game designers fall to their prey and make scenarios that WORKS ONLY with TOAW Matrix Edition. Thanks god, all the best scenarios are made before Matrix monopol arrived. Me don't likes Matrix.

I don't understand the "I hate Matrix Games" people for the most part.
I had a falling out with a slice of the Matrix Games forums community (years back too) and as a result I absolutely refuse to post there now.
Means absolutely nothing to whether I like their games though.
I like to ***** and moan about how Combat Leader is a game promised eons ago, and still shows little forward movement (to an observer).
But that doesn't mean squat to whether their other games are good investments.
I think it is impressive, that every time I go there, seems like Matrix Games has expanded, but I don't think there is reason for alarm.
There might be reason for alarm, if I were to go there for a month, and NOTHING ever changes ie no new posts.
I think it will suck, if the only option I have is to buy TOAW again, if any new work is to be enjoyed.
But when I consider how many wargames I have, it's not the end of the world.
It's only the end of the world, if your world revolves around just one game.
I think this is why some of the CM crowd are in such a state. It's because their whole world is CM, and they have been told they are not the be all and end all of the owners lives, even if CM is the center of THEIR lives.
Again, I can't understand the "I hate Matrix Games" crowd. It's not like they sold you buggy **** that won't run and which they refuse to fix is it?

We are very hard at work and should have some very nice updates soon for Close Assault. Combat Leader is another issue. The game is just moving from a design point the way the team wanted. In fact in some way I may decide to start over. I am not going to release a game I am not happy with and is near and dear to my heart. I understand everyone wants this game to be release but I am not going to release something that is just not what we wanted. I am sorry that its taking longer then even I expected but I going to do it right or not at all. Let me add this last bit in as well. These Talonsoft projects DO NOT in any way slow down or take away resources for any other projects. In fact the community really is helping in leaps at bounds over what I had expected.

As French I have one regreat, not to have it in French, why ?, I'm sure that TOAW in French will have a great market share here, As you may know it, french are history lovers, most of the US made games put our military history out, except Napoleon. Only Talonsoft West Front and TOAW let a place for us. It couls help to understand that all of us were not the so called "good enough to surrender".
Many developers have created scenario about WWI and WWII even our May40 disaster was well treated. So please if you can let us have a French version.
TOAW had an history here but it has sunk in oblivion. Very few even were aware of TOAW COW, that's a shame.
So if you want to open an other market think to a French version, you have a market here. Even for a red like me to make money with a good product is justice. I wish you all best for the rebirth of TOAW.
