Captured armor, do you ever buy / use them? :hmmm:

I have not but that's only because they are of the "common" type armor I usually get as the other side.

When I'm Axis I want to use the Axis stuff same when I'm the Allies. If I wanted to use T-34's I'd be playing as the Russians etc.

I can see their purpose and why at times you might want to have some of the other sides toys & if the designer :halo: gives them to me great, but I would rather buy my own sides armor.

However, if the game offered some of the more interesting stuff as captured material I might buy it. Say using a Puma as Russsians or Crusader as Itallians... Just using something different for fun and as a surprise for your opponent.

In the early years when the Tiger is available but nothing for the Russians to match it, a few captured Stugs might come in handy.

I dont because usually the cost is to high for something of similar calibre in your own armies choices.
Altho i wouldnt mind a scenario every now and then with captured equipment, especially early years Germans using T34's and T70's as they captured considerable amounts.

Captured T34s and Panthers can be nasty surprises. I just wish that recognition issues were modeled in. Shouldn't seeing one of your sides tanks in the wrong place translate to a delay in firing? Seems like the AI just thinks "Enemy!" and starts shooting.

The cost is to high and you could buy some your own nations armour for less, most times. :smoke:

Good point - should be a randomness factor built in

for example - conscript/green crew's could maybe sometimes just blast away because they cannot recognise the nationality of the tank, but other times not fire because they think its one of theirs.

Could possibly apply to all levels of experience...

I will on occasion buy T-34s as the Germans in the early war when you need that armored punch to go up against KVs and T-34s. I will also buy them for the cannister rounds later on in the war. When i do that i buy them by the platoon. The main reason i do that is to try something different. I design a lot of scenarios. I sometimes give out oddball equipment like captured tanks. I once did a armored unit vrs partisans scenario that had SS units using Russian and French armor. It was quite fun.
