Ok, temporarily I give up. I'm looking to install some CMBO mods. :argh:

I've downloaded CMMOS and McMMM. :nervous:

I've downloaded the German rule set for CMMOS (looks very exciting).

I've even downloaded some German mods from the CMMOS site (King Tiger stuff - relevant to 3MiF Rd 5).

What I can't do is install them at all. I need some basic help please - when should I unzip the downloads, or does the program do that for me ? What sequence should I go through to install the mods ?

I'm obviously doing something stupid (as usual) but I don't know what. The help documents don't seem to cover the problems I'm having.

All assistance gratefully received. :thanks:

Been a long time since I installed all my mods but if you goto the configure button in Cmmos you can add mods into the program that way without unzipping them. I keep all my mod zips in the same diretory as the game. When you use the config button it will allow you to select the directory that your mods are stored in. Some mods have to be put directly into the game. It depends on if they're Cmmos friendly. Not sure if you've seen it but the file: user_readme.html in your Cmmos directory is helpful.

Thanks for that.

I seem to be able to do some mods that way, but not all of them - may be whether or not they're CMMOS friendly.

Then - when I go to 'Configure' to select the mod, it doesn't seem to recognise what I've dwnloaded or just installed.

Hmmm ....

The ones that don't install with Cmmos can be unzipped directly into the BMP folder in your CM directory. Make sure to back up your originals!!!

The CMMOS mods should be put into a directory that is separate and not unzipped. You must also install the Rule sets in another separate directory.

I used my other HD for all the MODs.

The rules sets are installed first, then you can add the mods by loading the zip files.

For MODs that arent CMMOS compatible you should use MCMM, again, you dont unzip them and save them in a seperate directory. You then simply point MCMM at the place where you keep your MODs, you only have to do this once.

To test your MODs, set up a QB and choose varying units and then save it. Tinker with your MODs, open up the saved file and voila, you can see what they look like.
