Play as the Germans

Anyone else interested in playing a version of Brothers in Arms or Call of Duty where you play as the Germans? Not Waffen SS, but regular Wehrmacht.

Or does anyone have strong objectives about such a game being published?

I always play as the Germans in multiplayer, wish I could do so in single player as well.

Have you seen the German Front mod (http://germanfrontmod.justgamers.de/index.php?sektion=2) for Call of Duty? I don't think they have had a full single-player release yet, but they do have a demo out.

Definitely no problem with fallschirmjager.

Thanks! I have seen those, but I only play FPS on consoles (Xbox). I reserve the sanctity of my PC HD for SSI, Talonsoft, and HPS games exclusively.

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with Waffen SS either, but it would probably be too controversial for some people.

I play SS and Fallschirmjager in many many wargames. but then again these wargames are not FPS style and probably have too many rules so you kids don't play them.

I don't know if the thread was saved but I started a thread where CoD toy soldiers were sold. The company received a lot of flak regarding the SS dolls.

I have very strong feelings - in favor of having the games published.

One of the critical shortcomings of FPS's re WWII is the inability to take the opposing side. I'm am no advocate of playing Joachim Peiper at Malmedy, but playing as a German FSJ would be great, as would the afore-mentioned WaffenSS. The only games I can recall immediately that allowed you to play as WWII Germans in FPS have been Panzer Elite, Aces of the Deep and Aces Over Europe.

The difference in play would most obviously be the need to go defensive after the turning point of the war, which was well modelled in Aces Over Europe, where missions became progressively oriented towards bomber interception as the game wore on, and your replacement ratio of new pilots climbed through the roof. By the end of this game, I was going through new wingmen at the rate of one per mission, and scramble missions caused by Allies attacking my airfield were common. Both AoD and PE, of course, played primarily as the German side, although PE allowed play as American or British armor as well.

PC is all well and good, but this is about historical conflict.

I'd play a fps sp as a German. I play mp as either side. Some CoD UO mp servers are running the German Front Mod now. It's got some nice changes as to weapon sounds and skins. Also some new maps make it a nice change from the regular gameplay.

I like playing the Germans. I play WWIIOL as Germans and never played the other side. I used to play Warbirds III and my old squad (JG77 "Herz As") went belly-up and I left. I've always had a facination with the Germans of WWII, mainly their equipment like the Panther tank, Mp-44, etc. I've been playing Silent Hunter III and that game is very addicting. There are great mods out there for SHIII. Getting a bit hairy for me now, early 44 and enemy air is getting bad plus escorts are much better. When I play ASL, I mainly play the Germans too.

I wish after you beat the sp there are bonus german maps to play as so it goes american british russian and german, i think that would be fun, i play german online, but i cant see always playing german, i gues the first month of online but ive been playing uo daily even since it was released lol, its still fun, i havnt really liked any other shooters, and im still playing aoeII [custom maps that are stratgetic] i dont know when all find games that can replace those.
