OOB concern? I haven't heard any comments, complaints or otherwise about the balance of the forces for both sides. Based on discussions in the WP Secure area and to get your feedback I have a few items. Please feel free to voice your opinions.
The Air-Mobile Company of the Hungarians. Do you think it will unbalance or give unfair advantage to the Pact either in the Operational Game or WinSPMBT Battles? If so, what NATO counters do you recommend? I have considered pulling it and replacing it with an MRB (wheeled type).
Do the Tank to Tank and IFV to IFV ratios seem balanced? I think the Pact has an almost 2:1 advantage in both. I do know the Pact guys seem concerned about the NATO advantage in Night and low Visibility equipment, especially on the tanks.

I'm very concerned about the Hungarian Air Assault unit. But truthfully they need it and should have it from a doctrinal point of view. It will be very dangerous at the operational level. Nato will have to maintain some anti-airlanding reserves.

Its only a company, no ground mobile capabilities with it?
As a thought on counters, i think an independent small contingent of light fast scouts would be good. Not enough to beat it, just keep eyes on it and cause em some grief and delay their actions till reinforcements arive. The engineers attached to the hun's would be dangerous as they could find a nice defendable high position and dig in, causing us to have to redeploy a good deal of infantry to dig em out. Well, thats how i see them being used by the Hun, either way a small recon force for rear ops would be handy.
Personal suggestion: Italians, with motorbike scouts and some other light mobile assets, jeep types and light afv's. For the infantry component, well those italians have some nice small special forces units that pack a punch, a few of them with a inf platoon + mg & light mortar (and a couple of Italian hvy marine support units please god!).
That would give us something to counter their airmobile intentions with, sorta like a SAS style setup but operating in our rear area. Not enough to destroy that Hun airmob company, but make it interesting.

That would be right, Don't let these guys work on ya too hard DD, they will pick and pick till they incrementally gain a huge advantage.
I have read their comments on the need to get in close with their T55's to inflict casualties on our better armour, which can be done well, especially looking at the cost of a T55 against an Abrams or Leo. However, the range of the imaging equipment is limited and therefore only effective in close most times, although i havn't checked the view ranges on our available units. So if they are gonna smoke us and carry out a T55 chinaman assault on our heavier armour, then its only fair we get to see a bit more rather than be totally blind.
I think it is a fair balance, Warsaw doctrine was meant to operate at a numerical advantage for the very reason they didn't have the better armour capabilities as Nato. If they get to keep an advantage of numbers and reduce our armour effectiveness then that would be unfair, and exactly what they are trying to do i would wager. Those Hun's are sneaky dastardly fellows as you well know DD, not honest and distinguished men of probity like me :whist: ;)
Khmm, I hope you are not referring to Hungarians in general. There are some of them, who chose the proper side, and will fight for the right cause... :whist:

Hehe, nah, i got used to thinking of the UN team as the Hun team because of the amount of hungarians in it, The whole SP area is dominated by you guys!
So when i wrote it up i just used 'Hun' short for Hungarians, and theres some Germans there so it reflects that old term too. I mean they are our foe, wouldn't want to deny them the curtousy of some form of shortened nickname, that would be out of character in war.
However, if it something that bothers you for some reason i won't use it again, its all lighthearted stuff tho and i was directing the 'dastardly' remarks to Panochio, he is a lawyer afer all (i think) and he has tried to doublecross me before, luckily i am to fast for him :bandit: :)

Careful.......They are not HUNs. The Bulgars are much more closely related to the Huns. They are the Magyars. Very triksey. Another Steppe people. One of the more sucsessful ones. When was the last time anyone saw an Avar, a Pecheng, a Cuman, a Kazar, or a Parthian? They are the only people in Europe to give the Mongols a run for their money. Had it not been raining on that day in the 10th century German history would have turned out quite differently. They have a strong culture, excellent food, beautiful women, strong coffee, fast horses, and a poor taste in allies(Austria,Germany). Enough of this travel bureau BS. We'll crush them like the Russian lapdogs that they are! (In the game)

Getting back on topic here. :)
NATO forces have a 12,000 point shortfall in ground forces. Please review the OOB's and let me know which units to upgrade with thermals. I believe the M-150's would meet this criteria.
