For those looking for a good book on the European Theater's endgame, check out Beevor's 'Berlin: the Downfall 1945'. Ton's of good stuff, although at times presumptuous on the reader's background of WWII history.

I'm curious about what other readers thought.

Anyone have any tips on other good WWII books? I've read 'Stalingrad', 'Band of Brothers', 'Ghost Soldiers'. All were good in their own way.

recent books Ive read which I would recommend are:-

D Day, Citizen Soldiers, and Pegasus Bridge all by Stephen Ambrose.
Only thing wrong with Ambrose for me, is that he cant resist having a dig at the British and in particular Monty at every opportunity, he's determined that the Americans won the war on their own.

Six Armies in Normandy by John Keegan.

Panzer Battles by Major General Von Mellanthin. ( German staff officer on Rommels and Balcks staff)

Men Of Steel 1St SS Panzer Corp (the ardennes and the eastern front 44-45)

Steel Infeno 1st SS Panzer Corp in Normandy both by Michael Reynolds

Steel Storm Waffen SS panzer battles on the eastern front 43-45 by Tim Ripley

If your looking for it up close and personal, i recommend "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer, based on the experiences of an infantryman on the Eastern front.

Next time i get into the loft i look for a few more titles.

cheers
