This will be used for the testing and sign in of Warsaw Pact Team Commanders.

Once I work out some more things you will see additional sub-forums to this forum. It will look very similar to the Island Civil War Forum structure.

Artur - Do you think the subforums format should mirror the Red Snow one (4-5 subforums) or is the Island Civil War one (2 sub-forums) Not sure "Orders" and "Battle Briefings" would be enough? Reason I'm asking you is you are probably the only one who is really familar with both. :D

All main forums in the scecure areas are for different roles:
-general discussion
-intel
-training
-military operations
-operational planning

Truthfully, I was thinking they were better as well. This one will be bigger than the Island Civil War so probably needs more breakdown of topics/categories.

Just to talk about the title of the topic... Does anybody want to be overall commander? Because I do not. However, I would gladly help out anyone as a "staff member" If we divide labour, I would go for intel.

I don't want to take overall command either, simply because I'll start university in October and I don't really know in how far I can be completely involved in all the neccessary planning.

I would be very muhc interested to be involved in actual operations planning.

So Mr. Clark, maybe we will really need some internal security apparatus. I would also recommend that during the campaign, really sensitive information should be sent in Private Messages. This way we can avoid (even accidental/technical) security leaks.

In Island Civil war it worked well in some battles.

Yes, I think that important things should be discussed by PM as well. Maybe we might also be able to use IRC or the multiuser chat possibilities of MSN messenger? As I see it many of us are Europeans and so it might even work out to find a goods time for it.

On internal security: Yes, why not... I am living at Temujins for 4more days... maybe I can get my hand on some NATO plans...

About adding new commander access.

Once we have the base group (pretty much what has access now) I will start really screening new applicants for commander access. Whenever a new player wants to join I will post in the secure area so that everyone can comment. This way the team can look the new applicant over and make sure they are on the up and up. Basically if none of us know them from here or another forum we might not want to allow them in without serious review and consideration.

We have three new commanders. I know all three very well, Lupo and Tanker were my Red snow team mates, Commander Klank is a veteran Matrix games forum and SPWaW Depot forum member played some battles on his side.

We will have to vote someone in for command somewhere down the line if no one volunteers for it, as we cannot go on as a democracy for ever....lol.

What would be required for an over-all commander, and would he still be able to have control of his sub-unit if he takes overall command?

What constraints will be put on us for fuel supplies? For ammo consupumption? I only ask these questions because I believe NATO doctrine was to do deep attack against our logistics stream in order to slow us down. I don't know if this has been factored into the campaign at this level?

If this information has been presented elsewhere I appologise for bringing it up again. Please direct me to it if it is available. Thanks

I think it is entirely up to the CO. However my experience in Red Snow tells that the best thing is if he gives his tactical unit command to somebody else. He will have enough to do on operational level. Of course I aalso made an exception in the very last battle where I was the battle commander but that was all.

Regarding logistics rules I guess they will be very simple if they will be at all. Something like if the unit has a road connection to a HQ then it gets all his ammo if not only 1/2 or 1/3 of it. It was the same in the Crimea campaign if I recall it right.

Go ahead and recruit more if you like BUT be careful we do not end up with too many. I have a feeling the field wil be crowded once the battles start especially with dedicated unit commanders, some may not get to participate much.

Yes of course I will keep that in mind. I wish to do a flexible organization, if a unit is temporarily out of action it's commanderc can fight battles of other units which need more commanders.
