While I have not opened enlistments yet for the different sides it might be a good idea for players who are interested to start talking among themselves especially if they want to play as part of 1 team or the other. Looking at the poll it seems like there is about even interest for both the NATO and Warsaw Pact sides.

I will be putting together the supporting webpages over at my Combat Campaigns website with links to SZO to get the ball rolling

NOTE: Things may get a little slow around here from time to time over the next month. This is because the SPWAW campaign "Red Snow" is winding down Operational Turn 5. This means I will need to dedicate time to processing the end of OP Turn 5 and then starting OP Turn 6.

Noted. What will most likely happen is I will have interested players break down into 2 team (NATO and WP) Once these team sra esteblished I will open each teams secure forum areas for those teams and then we'll work out the command structure. Each team may want to alter their to what works best for them. Some may want a specific unit only and some may just want to play any engaged force in a given turn. Some may want to play staff only stuff, posting orders, overlays, enemy intel, etc

Everyone has requested varying units so there should be no problem getting assigned your choices. We are still early for kicking this off. I am spending hours each day thinking about which movement system will be best. I am actually building both MAP systems to see how they look.

The new patch will bring both to the same version but I wouldn't expect it before the end of the month or so. I am sure they are trying to get in and test as much as possible.

Welcome! If you want to be with NVA troops, then maybe you should contact Mr. Clark, he is our NVA commander as it stands now. I am sure he can take a deputy.

If you have already dedicated yourself to one side or the other please review ALL the OOB's as time permits. What I want is the 2 sides to be relatively even in combat strength AND to have roughly the same amount of aux units such as artillery, aviation, recon, etc. I will hopefully be posting Air assets (fixed and rotary) this weekend for discussion and revisions.

One thing we will also need is a replacement and supply system. I have several ideas but nothing confirmed yet.

Everyone will have different levels of participation, basically as much or as little as you want to.

Games will most likely be 1 on 1.

No other software, other than WinSPMBT will be needed to play and even that wouldn't be necessary if you just want to participate in an administrative capacity.

Just and FYI but I have conned (er.. enlisted) Skirmisher to help me with the campaign. This means he has been given access to both Team Forums so don't freak out if you see him in there. There is no security breech and he is not on any team!!

His primary duties will be going behind my postings such as those for OOB's and what units are involved in battles and stuff. Mostly this will be for me to have an extra set of eyes, sorta checking my work since there will be carry over of data from turn to turn in threads. If you look at the Island Civil War Forum you will see what I mean. I take units form the main OOB's and post the involved units into specific battle threads, then post losses, then regroup all those posts into the MASTER OOB for the next turns planning and so on.

Since this will be bigger than all my other campaigns he will check threads to make sure I have answered posted questions. For those involved in Red Snow he is here to help try to keep me move things along.

As time goes on he may become more involved but at this point he has no idea whats going on so don't bother interrogating him. :whist:

You never mentioned the fact that you have at least 7 Tank Battalions of premium tanks. Or that all WP AT weapons kill M60s including RPGs but no US infantry weapons kill WP tanks(frontally). :nervous: So save the negotiations for the UN and bring it on. The Lech is overflowing again :whist:

TI units especially improved TOW units are more than a match to the (not so big) numerical adbvantage we have. We cannot hit you behind smoke at all except artillery.

The T80Bs are premium tanks no doubt. I would go against the T72s with M60ATTSs at 2:1 or even 3:1 ratio without problem. Let us not mention the T60A and T50s. The T60Bs have good ATGMs but they are useless if you cover yourselves with smoke.

That's priceless. And of course you may be right. It depends on the year and the propensity of certain WP armies to fight. Lot's of variables. But I don't think the Magyars would be kicking anyone's ass. more than likely they would be stuck ass-deep in Austrians in bad terrain. What did Hungary have? I want to say 6 Divisions. Not sure. Sounds like a good scenario in the making.

Ok, that sounds better than the island setup, i like to have my own boys and not just have units passed around like ladies of the night.

I think i will leave it at that then, i will be relocating to another country, well a small tropical island in need of a new governing system (deja'vu??). ;) Thats at the end of the year so i won't commit to a bigger responsibility as yet and stick to being a junior commander, and maybe reserve senior commander or something like that.

Would 2 new ones be too much for the NATO team?Probably not. That would make 11 for NATO and 12 for the WP. Let me do some recaculating and see if it will work. Also since initial recruitment is closed, new players to a team must be run through a screening process by myself and the gaining team BEFORE they are given access to the secure areas. Nothing personal just a way to make sure the secure areas kept secure. ;)

If they want to "manage" their troops they need to speak up. :D
