View Full Version : Message from Kraut: to my opponents
I just wanted to let you guys now that my computer went up in smoke (well, luckily just the mainboard, all data (should) be safe) and I'm unable to access my e-mail or PBEM turns as all data is stored on that computer :o
I don't know how long I have to wait for the replacement mainboard but the guy in the computer shop told me that it could easily be 2 weeks or longer !
At least I've managed to reactivate my old notebook and regain access to the Internet! 2 weeks without my computer is bad enough, but 2 weeks without a computer and internet ??? :hurt:
latest news: I manages to activate e-mail on my notebook and installed TOAW ! :D
So, all opponents with smaller games (Dan and Mantis with EA and Xandamere with Götterdämmerung (ATM we have a pretty static front, thats why I count this game as small ;) ) can now email me their turns at: NOSPAMrosendorf@t-online.deNOSPAM (remove the NOSPAM) and I'll try to get them done.
To my DNO opponents: sorry, but it's just impossible to do these games on a 800x600 screen on a 233MhZ PII wit 96MB RAM :o
you have to wait until my main computer is back up and running

Good god, where do you live? 2 weeks to get it fixed is criminal!
Just buy a new mainboard, and wham-bam thank you mam you throw that thing in there and away you go!
At least that is how I would do it LOL.

Yupp, I guess that's what they wanted me to do! I still had warrenty so they have to replace the board for free, guess they'd love to hear :" 2 weeks ?? Screw you and screw the board, here's my money, just gimme another one of those !"
But no no, if I can get something for free I'm persistent :D
Hope everything works out, and soon. I'm itching to get back into our DnO game.
I was already 50% done with my turn when the computer died. Here is what you can expect: The south will stand and fight were they are, I'll try to hold the Stalin Line for as long as possible although I'm still toying with the idea of a partial retrat in the very southern part, maybe behind the bug ?
In the center you pretty much got me running, my positions behind the Dnepr south of Orsha became unholdable and I'm retreating at full speed. Smolensk will fall soon, inflicting another 5% drop upon my poor soviets. In the north I barely have enough forces to cover just half the front, I'm so desperate that I'm using destruction regiments as frontline troops!, this is going to be tough!
Overall far to many soviet formations went into reorg, combined with your nasty interdiction strikes and really bad luck (a 98% engineering unit failed to repair an important bridge !) the situation looks really grim!
I can't wait to continue my turn: must be my masochistic tendencies :clown:

LoL...so, it's just another day in the life of a Supreme Soviet Leader? I know how you feel. Daniel and I are at the same stage, and it's my turn 5 as the Soviets. Stand and fight and die? Or, run, get caught, and die? Ugly situations and tough decisions abound...which is why I need to see the other side...;)
