I have been having some problems with the VoIP in BF2. I can do whatever settings I want before jumping in a game, but once I get in it greys-out the VoIP enable/disable box and sets it to disabled, and lowers all of the volume settings. Changing the volume settings does nothing. I can change everything back the way it was after I get out of a game, but it just resets again once I get in.

So its not just a problem with my mic (which works with TS), it won't even recieve VoIP either.

Any suggestions?

Actually, I think an install of the latest Realtek AC97 drivers fixed it...I haven't heard anyone yet, but my settings say I should be able to if someone talks.

Tinjaw and I attempted some team play/VOIP action last evening, overseer join in as well. Aside for me continually being forced to the other team by the server, I was apparently having difficult with VOIP. When we were on the same team and in the same squad, I could hear Chaim for the most part. He was often stepped on the the "Commander" offering his commentary on the game. I apparently was not transmitting.

We went back out to xfire and I then tested my headset under the audio tab of BF2. The test's slide indicator displayed about 95% "green". The "Enable" box had an "x". I pressed "B" to transmitt. When I pressed "B", there would be a green icon, right side of screen - c enter that quickly turned to red. After time I was beginning to think that was some indication of how my particular VOIP was working. Any ideas to fix this?

All in all had some fun as a moving target for the opposition.

I was wondering about that too. You at least seemed to have an incredible ping at points. Was it playing smooth while you were in the game?

TJ and I aren't sure if maybe it's him having the problem or not actually.

So for those fleeting moments we were in the same squad, did you hear me attempting to establish comm? I heard TJ intermittantly.

Do you know anything about that green/red circle icon that apparently appears when transmitting?

I didn't actually hear you, but I don't remember being the same squad as you for very long. The green means it's working generally, and the red, as usual, means bad. I'm not sure exactly what triggers it to be honest, but yeah.

The red circle while on VOIP usually means that your feed is set too high. Try talking quieter and see if that helps temporarily. If so, then try going into the voice setup and changing some of the settings (I think there is a boost function) so that it picks up the quieter voice, but can be heard clearly.

Well, I do not know. but I do not feel any freeze though. Sometimes I read you say "lag".. then I got killed.. not sure if I had some lag that I do not know or simply I am not capable of spotting my enemies yet :D

Yeah...apparently my settings say VoIP should work but it doesn't in game....:(

What kind of connection do you have ER? (please don't say dial-up....:D)
