15_01s: The Northern Front - NATO Solitaire
1500 15 June 1985 - Turn 1 of 21, Normal Conditions
NATO forces arrayed north to south as follows:
15. PzBde, 5. PzDiv, III Kps
13. PzBde, 5. PzDiv, III Kps
11th ACR, V Corps, 7th Army
5. PzBde, 2. PzDiv, III Kps
6. PzBde in reserve vic Giessen
T1 1500
Southern Zone: Strong enemy forces from 6th Guards Tank Division attack 5.PzBde from vicinity of Lauterbach and north of Hill 845. In the extreme south, a reinforced Soviet tank brigade of at least six tank battalions strike two battalions of grenadiers, HQ 5.PzBde quickly exchanges one grenadier battalion which is disrupted in the firestorm. A-10's in support of 5.PzBde is driven off by Pact SAMs. F-4F's of JBG 35 follows up taking out a WP tank for no losses.
Center Zone: a brigade sized unit from 11th Guards Tank Division sorties from the vicinity of Alsfeld, trying to force the boundary between 11 ACR and 5.PzBde. Another brigade of 11th Guards is moving to contact of the main body of 11th ACR. CO 11th ACR moves up some of his reserve force to backstop the troopers of 11th ACR. A-10 strike forward of 11th ACR positions takes out one pact tank for no losses
Northern Zone: All quiet thus far on the 15.Pz and 13.PzBde sectors.
Reserve: 6.PzBde is still being maintained as III Kps reserve.
T2 1800 Dusk
Southern Zone: The extreme southern elements of 5.PzBde is being savaged. The strong enemy tank brigade assaults and takes the grenadier's improved position.
Center Zone: By sheer attrition, the enemy has pushed through the boundary of 11ACR and 13.PzBde, seizing the 50VP hex between Alsfeld and Homberg. A vicious counter attack by 11th ACR tempoarily pushes the spearhead back, Soviets barely held the VP that they had siezed.
Northern Zone: 13.PzBde in contact, 15.PzBde pushes forward, brushing away WP helo unit apparently screening the Soviet right flank. Hunting some unsuspecting pact arty.
Reserve: 6.PzBde still getting some good rack time.
