How about it? If script kiddies and clanboi's can make mods, why shouldn't we? I mean, if ever there was an online community that was qualified to make a mod... we'd be it.

I'm thinking we'd start small.. just do the basics to make the game more realistic. Tweak the damage for each weapon, adjust the rates of fire, fix the vehicle speeds, etc.

Once that is out of the way, we could move on to new weapons/vehicles, new maps, etc.

Just dropping a line to see if I can catch any bites...

That would be interesting...

My only worry is that there are already mods out there that tweak realism....and now matter how much expertise we have, I bet those mods have done their homework also.

I can code. However, what I've found generally, is the hardest and most important thing to find for making a more substantial mod is artists...

I agree. I can code too, so we'd have that covered... but we'd need to find some folks who are good at rendering stuff, as well as some folks who could whip up some new maps (eventually).

I've done mapping with a few other games, I'm curious to see what it's like for a BF game, so I'll look into that at some point, but unfortunately, while I've experimented with making models, I will never claim to have artistic talent.

Yeah, to put out a good, quality mod you need modelers, skinners, mappers, coders......its a large operation.

I could help out some, although I don't know what I would do...seems like there are enough coders, and thats all I could really contribute (and even so only very little).

EDIT: Actually, I should ask...what exactly do you need to know to code something like this? I've never tried...

We'd need someone to handle sound/music.

A small modification of an existing skin could give you guys some cool ACG logos on your uniforms.

Very true! However, we couldn't use that in a regular ranked server, as I believe punkbuster would pick-up the alteration quickly. Everyone playing would have to use the mod, and that in and of itself leads to problems.

Ah. That's a pity.

I'll get my coat.
