Very close and hard-fought game.
Moving on Cherbourg is hit or miss for the Allied player; you either get the big VP award, or you don't. Depending on the German defense, it may be easier to drive across the peninsula to the Portbail area. The VPs there are a bit more spread out, so you might get something even if you're not 100% successful. Blocking the railroad at St. Saveur and the west coast road somewhere near Portbail also greatly reduces German supply to the north. All of the German supply sources are on the south edge of the map.
The struggle for Carentan is extremely historical. The 17 SS Pz Grenadiers were advancing against the 101AB, and they were stopped only when Bradley committed CCA of the 2d Armored to a counterattack.
