View Full Version : Man selling BF2 account on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8203381757&rd=1
Starting bid is 27 bucks. No bids yet....Can't believe someone would actually try to sell one on ebay (and wouldn't believe if someone would buy it). I think HEAT and I might have actually played with him tonight (I remember playing someone with a Jethro nick, don't know if its this exact one though).

I would say I'm surprised, but nothing suprises me anymore in this day and age. There is something familiar about that name too...maybe he was in our squad. :)
I would assume that with this login that people who illegally downloaded the game via Bitorrent or USENET would be able to play on the multiplayer servers.
Not suprising at all if you ask me.

No, its not like that. Basically, he played the game (real game) enough that his rank is higher than the basic "start" level. This has a couple lame perks...and is certainly not worth it.
On the other hand, it could save someone several hours of their time to essentially skip to his rank. I'm sure we'll see more of this type of mentality with BF2.

They should just be able to create their own login...why would they have to buy one off ebay?
NOTE: I am not advocating illegal software in ANY WAY.

Hmm I don't know. I am not familiar with the intricasies of The Battlefield Series. I must be mistaken then. You see in MMORPG games, the cds are not copy protected.
To give an example, Some of my buddies convinced me to play World of Warcraft (sigh I know...). I bought the game off of someone on ebay and had them email me the cd key. I then used my buddies CDs to install the game and registered with the key I got in the email. My package showed up a week later but I wanted to play right now.
I was assuming that this game used a similiar mechanic but evidently I am wrong.

The game has a seperate CD key system, although I would have thought that CD-Keys are bound to accounts, so I'm not sure if they'll run into difficulties there.

I just can't see paying ANY amount for a name like "Jethro_2".
Now, "Jethro_Tull", maybe! :D

It's a common practice in MMORPGs, people selling their accounts they have played for years, it can reach quite high ($500 and up).

He is probably just doing it to get noticed. And, sadly, he has succeeded.
I mean come on, at least offer to sell me a general or something. Not some lowly level.
This reminded me of this article I saw, so I tried to find it but I couldn't. I did however find one that was about the same thing but in less detail.

Obviously, since it violated EA's EULA, the auction was pulled by eBay.
I can't believe it took this long!!
