View Full Version : some info
Hi guys,
can anyone give me some information about the correct use of some units? :hail:
How do the Tranport helicopters work?
Which is the best way to use them?
I've seen that even if they aren't in the same hex, for example, of a ranger unit,
the option "board helicopter" appear on the unit.
So I have to keep them near the front line or can keep them away from it? :crosseye:
Also I've seen some unit with a truck icon and other with the MP sign.
I've readed that both of them would improve the movements
but I have't understood clearly how and which are really their effects.
Finally if a movement costs 1 MP,
aren't there some differences (i.e. about burned resource of the unit)
if the terrain is a road or an improved road or open terrain or ...
Thanks in advance.
Joshua.

Transport helicopters need to be within their "airlift range" and totaling a sufficient amount of "airlift capacity" to allow a unit to board helicopters. The boarded unit can then move the "airlift range" to a destination hex and disembark. This may put the unit out of range of helicopter assets and thus be unable to board helicopters in subsequent turns, unless you have more assets which can move forward to new bases that are within range of the newly disenbarked unit.
I tend to use my transport helos, broken down as much as possible, to convert rapidly bypassed enemy controlled territory, that does not have enemy units in it. They are poor defenders, as the transport helos are passive defenders and will retreat before combat with the slightest attack. They do make a good territorial conversion net in your rear, though, if you have already cleared the enemy forces.

The truck icon has no utility in the game, AFAIK. Neither does the transport icon. The MP icon, by itself does nothing. However, if Military Police squads are assigned to a unit (any unit) they will reduce hex density based movement penalties, based on the number of squads and the hex size. The MP icon is simply a convenient unit icon to put these types of squads into, if the scenario designer wishes to incorporate these units in the scenario.

Land units use supply at the rate of 1% per movement points (MP) expended. It makes no difference on the expenditure of supply whether that hex is traversed by a road, or is some other terrain type that costs the moving unit the same number of MP's. Roads generally have higher resupply rates, so units on them will regain supply from previous expenditures at a higher rate.
Thank you very much.
I hope to play soon a scenario with you,
I've readed somewhere that a recruit can learn a lot of things fighting vs you !!
(Ah, the power of the publicity) :D
