AAR for 2inNormandy v2.21
Triaxe (Allies) vs Viridamaros(Axis)

Strategy for me is to make a big push to Cherbourg in the west with my paratroops holding the flank and the Omaha and Gold Beach groups to drive straight down the center to capture St. Lo Juno and Sword beach groups are to converge towards Caen and capture it with Britih paratroops across Pegasus bridge guarding the flanks and taking care of the coastal batteries and cities.

Turn 1 Allies
Troops of the 82nd Airborne take Douvre and mederet river crossings and occupy st. mere eglise. Utah beach troops overrun immediate resistance and capture Marie Dumont. Omaha beach sector troops take Vierville. Gold and Juno beach troops expand their beacheads and take Douvres.
Sword beach troops push out and link up with Pegasus bridge and capture Benouviolle

Turn2
In the west Allies push to the outskirts of Quineville and Montebourg and nearing St sauver
In the center troops are pushing toward the Aure river with some lead armor elements across
British lauch from Gold beach and take Bayeaux, Creully and Brettville
Juno and Sword beach units are converging on Caen with some fighting in the outskirts
Paratroops and commandos east of Pegasus are pressing on Merville and holding a line south of pegasus bridge

Turn3
Allies capture Montebourg and are closing in on Caretan, surrounded Isigny and across the Aure river in force
The British launching out of Gold beach close in on Tilly Sur Seulles and still heavy fighting on the outskirts of Caen. Merville falls.

Turn 5
Us forces have pushed to the outskirts of Valognes and paratroops have half of Carentan under control. The Brits capture Balleroy and mopping up operations behind the Aure river line. Armored units reach Foret de Cerisy and capture Carpiquet. Most of North Caen underBritish control and Truarm and Cabourg fall.

Turn 6
Us troops surround Valognes and are ready to put the death blow to the occupyng German forces in the major push for Cherbourg. St. sauver is under attack and there is still a tough battle for Carentan. Isigny still holds out and Tilly Sur Seulles falls. North Caen is in complete British control but the battle for South caen is just starting. British paratroopsand commandos push along the east coast towards Moulgate.

Note: Carentan and Isigny were both major thorns in my side in this game. Isigny wasn't as bad since it was behind my lines and was totally surrounded but Viradamoras did a good job of holding me up in the Carentan sector as I initially thought a holding force there would be sufficient until I had more reinforcements to push on and put the bulk of my units in the Cherbourg push but in the end I never could get past Carentan in that sector.

Turn 7
Valognes falls and the road to Chebourg is open now. Having trouble in Carentan with counterattacking German forces. Attacks into South Caen have been repulsed with heavy losses. Moulgate falls.

Turn 8
Three hexes outside of Cherbourg now and Bricquebec falls. Lost half of Carentan this turn with 2 airborne units cut off. Trying to bridge the Vire river to come up behind Carenatan and help out. Two desperate attempts to cross the river into South caen have been repulsed yet again.

Turn 11
One hex away from town center in Cherbourg. German troops attacking out of Carentan cross the Taute river and trying to keep contained for now.. Foret de Cerisy finally cleared and now trying to breakthrough and reach St. Lo. More attempts to break into south Caen end in failure.

Turn 12
Cherbourg falls, still problems at Carentan but have broken through in the center and pushing hard for St. Lo. Finally have a few units across the river into south Caen!

After my opponents turn 12 the game was over but he had managed to take back Cherbourg and the game ended in a draw.
Overall I think this is a good scenario and had a great battle on it with Viridamaros.
I think the Allies in this really have to go all out and drive like crazy which is what I did but by the time I reached Cherbourg my units were wore out and I barely captured it on turn 12 and my opponent easily recaptured on his last turn.
I never really did very good on the attack into south Caen and Viridamaros put up and excellent defense there and at carentan.
